Paige's POV
I glanced over at my sleeping boyfriend a couple of times. His shoulders were shaking and he was mumbling words that were almost inaudible and completely incoherent. I wanted to pull over and tuck Calvin into my arms. I wanted to comfort him. But I knew the only way I could do that would be to give him some space.
His father had just died for God's sake! My eyes were focused on the road and the steering wheel, but the picture of Calvin's dead father was plastered onto the walls of my mind with super glue. I wished I didn't have to keep seeing it, but I couldn't think of anything else. I couldn't stop thinking about Calvin crying in the hospital parking lot. I had never seen him in so much distress before. It was scary. But I had to be there for him. He was always there for me. That's why I loved him.
One week later...Friday, July 3rd. Still Paige's POV.
I giggled as I climbed into the shower. I could hear Calvin brushing his teeth. He sniggered quietly.
"I cannot believe you Cal." I said to him over the the sound of the rushing water.
Suddenly the shower curtain was pushed to the side to reveal a blushing, buck naked Calvin peering at my face.
"Believe what?" He said mysteriously before climbing into the bath with me. I grinned at him again as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I nuzzled his chin with my nose. The warm water gently streaming down both of our bodies as we stood together.
Calvin nudged me lightly so I my back was against the shower wall. He placed a hand on my hip and pressed his lips to mine. My hair was plastered to my face with water. I kissed him back.
We stayed like that for a while. Our tongues dancing with each other. I laughed between movements. I opened my eyes for a second. Just taking in Calvin's closed eyes in front of me. He looked so adorable I just had pull away.
"You're so cute, you know that, Cal?" I said to him quietly. He smirked and stuck his tongue out at me.
"I know. But you're even cuter." He said. I pretended to grimace.
"Oh, I'm cringing." I said smiling as I rolled my eyes. "We're so cliché sometimes."
Calvin stared at my features, raking a hand through his short brown hair. "Ugh, I love you Paige." He said abruptly, and with that he slipped out of the shower and walked out of the bathroom, leaving me in pure, happy confusion.
I giggled again before finishing up my shower.
Calvin's POV
I walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my body. I got to our room and put on some shorts and a t-shirt.
Reaching into my desk drawer I pulled out the diamond ring I had bought for Paige when she was out buying groceries. It was simple yet stunningly beautiful. Just like Paige. I let out one laugh before putting the ring back into its dark red case.
I heard someone knocking on our door downstairs. As I walked past the bathroom I called out to Paige.
"P, were we expecting anyone?" I asked her. Ever since the accident I decided my nickname for Paige would be "P". There was a pause before she replied,
"No I don't think so. Why?" She asked me. I sighed, but didn't answer her as I slowly walked down the steps.
The knocker banged on the door a little louder. I began jogging. "I hear you." I said, a little irritated, as I unlocked the door.
Opening the door, I revealed a grinning, red-haired Georgie. I scowled and started to shut the door on her face, but she stopped it with her arm. She pushed the door open and stepped inside making her way to the island in the kitchen. I groaned inwardly.
