the sirens stopped, the lights were gone. the house was silent now, too silent. months passed, luke never stopped crying. michael tried his best to make him happy, but nothing made him happier than ella's little smile and her laugh and the way she made him happy when he felt sad.

luke wished this was a dream, he really did. everyday he woke up he thought he could hear ella's sweet giggling through the house, but it was just the silence that had managed to occupy the house now. he had gotten used to ella's babbling that now, life ended how it was before.

michael hated watching luke and how he would just mop around all the time. he hated how much he had broken. there was nothing that michael could do and he didn't like knowing that. he was used to being the man of the house and now he could barely keep himself together long enough to make sure luke was okay.

the government let them both off with what was almost like a warning. they felt almost bad, luke didn't stop crying during the entire court appearance.

luke couldn't bear to think of what was happening to her, he knew they were treating her less than she should be treated. she deserved the world and they would never give her that.

but life went on, luke never talked to his brother again. luke despised him for what he had done. even if luke knew it was the best thing to do, he hated his brother. then michael suggested adopting a son.

luke wasn't sure, the heartbreak of practically losing ella was far too much for him, but michael thought it was a good idea. they could raise him like they would have liked to raise ella, and they wouldn't have to worry about other people disapproving. luke eventually agreed.

they both adopted a little boy named alex, who looked exactly like luke it was almost like he had birthed him. he had bright blue eyes, blondish hair, and a smile that could brighten the room. they really loved him. they cared for him like they would have cared for ella, except this time there was no sneaking around or having to make a closet a room.

at first, luke and michael never would have thought that having a child would be a good thing for them, but it seemed to have worked out in the end.
