"Go, Gray, Go!" I yell at the television, lying on the couch, rubbing my not too big stomach. My baby's a senior now, about to be a father, about to be an NBA Star.
The boys are losing Carolina by 1 point with 10 seconds left. Grayson brings the ball up the court slowly. I yell at him to hurry his ass up, and apparently he hears me across the television, because he runs past Joel Berry and Lukas Maye. He jumps up and dunks then the buzzer beater rings.
My breath is taken away. He did perfect on his last game in a Duke Jersey, winning us the championship and our third win against UNC this season. A wave of royal blue covers the court, along with screaming. I scream like crazy myself, getting up from the couch and jumping up and down.
My stomach decides to give me pain, so I quickly sit back down on the couch. The camera zooms in on the smiling boys. Grayson and Marvin hold up the trophy with their new hats lopsided. They pull Grayson aside for a quick interview.
"How'd you feel about this game?" The lady in the baby blue dress asks. She chose the wrong colored dress, what a bitch.
"It... it was amazing. My last game as a blue devil rocked," He says, panting.
"What happened in the second half that made you boost after the first half where you had only 5 points?"
"I thought about my beautiful fiancé and our baby that's coming in 6 months. I thought about her perfect smile, her laugh, her eyes, just everything about Jackie. And I thought about how I know she's recording this interview right now and is gonna show our baby in the future. So, hey Jackie and future daughter/son!" Grayson waves to the camera and I laugh, pressing stop recording and shoving my phone in my pocket.
"Aw, that's very sweet. We heard some of the Tar Heels booing you when you came out. How'd you feel about that, and why do you think that happened?"
Grayson laughs and runs his hand through his sweaty hair. "Well, I've gotten used to it. I get booed constantly, all because of the immature stuff I did. I'm pretty sure they booed me since I will shamefully admit that I did intentionally trip Lukas Maye on my senior night. But, he was talking trash to me. I've a extremely bad temper, just ask anyone I know."
I nod in agreement. The interviewer thanks Grayson for his time, congratulates him for the win, then walks away. The camera follows Grayson back to his team where he hugs Coach.
The next morning, I'm awaken by the closing of a door. I shoot up from the couch and run to Grayson, jumping into his out stretched arms.
"Did you watch?" He asks.
"Duh!"
"Did you cry?"
"Duh!"
"Did you record the interview?"
"Duh!." I pull away from the hug and kiss him. He smiles and ruffles his hand through my hair.
"I love you." Gray says with a smile.
"Duh!"
