-Emmaline's Point of View-

. . .

"I'm home."

"Good afternoon honeybee, how was your day?" Marta greeted me.

"It was good, where's momma?"

"Your mother has gone out of town with some friends for a spa retreat."

"I'm guessing that means Daddy won't be home either." I stated as I walked into the kitchen. I tossed my purse onto the counter before rummaging around for something to munch on.

"Now your father is a very busy man." Marta defended, "why don't you go on upstairs and get comfortable while I make you a snack."

"No thanks, I'm gonna hit up the mall and grab a bite with some friends."

She nodded, I did go upstairs to change out my purse and switch into shorts and sneakers. I also grabbed an empty overnight bag, it seems I no longer need permission to go to the Cullen's tonight. I threw in my toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrush and a couple black elastic bands to hold my hair up, the rest I can purchase at the mall.

I didn't bother calling anyone, I knew I was bound to run into someone, plus I really just wanted to be alone for a while.

I immediately went into Starbucks and ordered a small frap for a slight pick me up.

My next stop was Victoria's Secret, I picked up a new set of pajamas that are super cute, because you simply cannot show up to an Alice Cullen slumber party in raggedy old pajamas.

I also went into the Nike Store where I picked up a few workout outfits, sports bras, socks, and brand new sneakers.

To be honest I really wasn't in a shopping mood as I found myself sort of walking aimlessly, I don't want to do the whole "woe is me" spiel but my life isn't exactly a great one.

Yes I have both parents, a nice house, i'm head cheerleader and captain of the squad. But underneath all of those things are all sorts of issues.

Cheerleading for instance, while I love it, it comes with it's own cross to bear, a lot of people just see me as an empty headed girl. So I have to work harder than most to prove that I'm not just some dunce.

My nice house, well it's just that because it most certainly isn't a home considering my parents are almost always gone, if I didn't have Marta I would be alone.

As for my parents, while they're married it isn't exactly a loving relationship. Now don't get me wrong, they don't argue or anything like that, then again I suppose they have to be around each other to actually argue. Both of my parents work very hard, but my father is constantly away for business meetings and my mother can run her company from her computer so she is always gone on shopping trips or spa retreats. Their marriage is one of convenience, a show for clients and the community, nothing more.

I looked down at my cellphone and saw it was barely going on 3. I decided to go to the movies to kill time.

Once I got to the movies I called Marta and told her I was going to spend the night at my friends house, then I got off and picked one of the longest movies they were showing.

2 and a half hours later I walked out of the theater rubbing my cheeks from laughing so hard. I ran into some girls from last years squad. "I hope I'll see all of you at the tryouts tomorrow morning." I said as I waved them goodbye.

I made it back to my car and my stomach grumbled. "I suppose I should eat before I go." I said to myself as I looked at the clock on my dashboard, it was half past 5.
