Twenty-One

I stood up as I watched the tear stained Emmaline bolt from the library, I slumped back into my chair and let my head fall onto my arms. even after having to watch her practically makeout with Leander I still couldn't help but find myself drawn to her. Then I looked down and noticed a spiral notebook on the floor, I leaned down and picked up the fallen notebook. It was the same one that Emmaline had just written down all her notes into, she would have a tough time finishing off her homework without the notes.

I gathered my own belongings plus Emmaline's notebook and left the library.

"Hey I'll meet y'all at home, I just gotta take this over to Emmaline's place." I said.

"Oh can I ride with you, I wanted to take her a little care package, she's been a little down all week and I want to cheer her up." Renesme insisted. I nodded and she got in with instructions to stop off at the store

After our short trip into a corner store Renesme and I got off the car, "don't tell her I'm here just incase she doesn't want a lot of people here."

Ness seemed to understand so she flitted up the stairs with the Harper's maid.

"You can also go up if you'd like." The woman said as she descended the steps.

"Thank you ma'am." I acknowledged as I made my way up.

I reached the door and felt a wave of sad emotions seeping through the cracks. Ness was talking, "Well you can talk to me, the only person I talk to is Jacob but he wouldn't dare tell my secrets."

I smiled, that's only because they're imprints otherwise Jake's one of the hugest gossips of the house.

There was a slight pause and a change in her emotions before she spoke.

"Well this guy I really like is kind of giving me the cold shoulder, I don't know what I did but I wish I knew."

I didn't like the fact that I was growing so jealous over whoever this "crush" is, even though she has Leander she has a crush on someone else as well?

She continued talking, "Meanwhile my ex kissed me the other night at the game, I bit him and pushed him away but it opened up old wounds. And all I really want is to talk to my crush so he can hug me and tell me everything will be okay. Now that I think about it I don't know if he ever has hugged me except for one time but it wasn't a fun hug, one of convenience and it ended with him having to take his shirt off." Emmaline vented, her words becoming choked as she was obviously crying.

I stood with wide eyes, Emmaline was talking about me, she likes me, and she didn't kiss Leander he kissed her, unwillingly. I got angry, with myself and then with him. If I ever saw that jackass anywhere near her again i'd hurt him.

"He took his shirt off?" Ness asked slightly amused, she had to know Emmaline was talking about me and what happened in the forest the other night.

"Yeah, I still have it too." Emmaline admitted, her emotions spiked up to one of happiness and adoration and I couldn't help but smile.

"Well whoever this guy is must be crazy to be mad at you, you're probably one of the nicest human beings I've ever met." Ness offered.

I sighed, she was right, I should've just talked to Emmaline about everything instead of running away. I knew I had to fix this so I knocked on the door and opened it as I stood in the doorway.

"Hi." Emmaline said, her cheeks were pink and her Hazel eyes were slightly watery

"Hey," I smiled, "um Renesme do you mind if I talk with Emmaline alone?" I asked as I walked into her bedroom.
