"So you want to have dinner with my parents and me? It's this thing we do every Saturday."Matt wrote in the sticky note that he had passed to me.

We were in this huge library and I swear all you could hear is the flipping of pages and the scratches of pens on papers. The rhythmic drumming of my fingertips sounded almost inappropriately loud. I smiled as I read the note over a second time.

"I hope you know that awkward is my main state and your dad is our science teacher." I wrote on the back. I watched Matt while he read the note. He grinned his crooked grin and rolled his eyes. He picked up the pen and started to write on a new sticky note.

He slid the paper along with the pen.

"Oh come on! It'll be fun! I promise. My mum adores you and my dad says you seem brilliant. Please doll face?" I read. I rolled my eyes. I picked up the pen and wrote in my untidy cursive.

"Fine. Only if you make me smile though right now." I slid across the table.

He picked it up and read it. He smiled his dimpled smile and straightened his bowtie. He winked at me and began to write on the sticky-note. The seconds felt stretched into minutes by anticipation. He finally looked up and handed me an origami swan made of the sticky note which had the pick up line written on it.

I took it apart carefully and read what it said.

"If I was an NES cartridge would you blow me? What's the drop rate of your shorts? You turn on my sonic screwdriver." I had to bite into my cardigan to keep from laughing out loud.

...

Matt was already dressed and he was wearing a button down with a fancy bow tie and suspenders that matched. His tweed blazer complemented his tweed pants. He sat on my bed as I stared at my closet. I had know idea what to wear.

"What should I wear?" I said. Matt ran his fingers through his hair. His eyebrows shot up.

"Do you have any pink skirts?" He asked. I nodded and pulled out my pink and white polkadot skater skirt. He smiled.

"Perfect, now, a shirt that matches?" He said looking up at me. I smiled. I knew just the shirt.

It was a sleeveless white button down shirt with a scalloped design. I pulled it out of my closet and told him I'd be right back.

"Don't rush." he said winking. I rolled my eyes.

...

We walked hand in hand with Matt to his front door. I fiddled with my cross body and touched my hair and scratched behind my ear and touched my Fob watch.

"Would you stop your fidgeting? Goddamn! You look gorgeous and if you try to deny it I swear to God I will take the screwdriver out of your purse and try to use it against you. Now calm your ass down." He said chuckling darkly. I giggled and I noticed that it wasn't because of what he said but because I was nervous.

Matt stood up straight and pulled his blazer. He straightened his bow tie and smoothed out his hair. He looked over at me and flashed me a smile then rang the doorbell.
