Avi's P.O.V

I sat down next to Matt on one of the stretchers at the back of the Nurse's office. He was still unconscious from when he banged his head against a desk.
My sides are sore and so is my heart. It hurts to think that he was crazy enough to physically hurt Jon. Jon is such a douche.
All of us got off with warnings. I thought that was great because I get to spend Christmas break not worrying about a possible suspension.
Matt groaned.
I held the ice bag to the back of his head. Remarkably, his face managed to go unscathed. His whole torso is bruised.
I brushed his hair out of his eyes. He shifted a little bit and looked at me.
"Impossible Girl." He said smiling. He grabbed my bruised hand and brushed his lips against my knuckles. His voice was croaky.
"You're an idiot." I whispered. He chuckled, wincing at the action.
"I thought we had established this."
"Ugh. You should of just let me take the beating." I said running my fingers through his hair.
"What kind of person would that make me?"
"A smart one?"
"No. It would have made me despicable." He whispered.
I'm not sure what it was; maybe the light or the way his hair flopped into his grey eyes. Maybe it was the way I could feel his steady human heart beat. Or maybe it's the way I feel his voice vibrate every single bone in my body.
Maybe it's him.
I don't know.
He just made me feel real. He made me feel loved.
...
He didn't have a concussion which was good.
Matt and I walked back to my dorm hand and hand singing Fall Out Boy songs at the top of our lungs. We walked through the freezing air, our bodies keeping each other warm.
When we got to my door, I pulled out my key and unlocked the it. He smiled at me with the warmest grin. I smiled back in return.
We walked in and were engulfed with the delightful smell of ginger bread. We heard Catherine, Katelyn, and Alma laughing from the tiny kitchen. They saw us and screamed with excitement.
"Oh my God! Guess what?" They all said at once. I smiled.
"What?" I yelled excitedly.
"We rented out this huge house for the whole break and we wanted to invite both of you guys to come! It'll be amazing." Katelyn said grabbing my hands. Her blue eyes were practically aflame with excitement.
"Of course I'll come! What about you?" I said happily turning to face Matt. His smile got even wider.
"When are we leaving?" He asked. Everyone shrieked with excitement.
This'll be interesting.
...
So we had everything packed up and ready to go in Katelyn's truck. Alma rode up front with Katelyn and Catherine, Matt, and I rode in the bed which was possibly the worst idea ever.
Catherine was huddled up against me and so was Matt. We told jokes to keep our minds off the cold.
We stopped in front of this huge house. It was sort of Victorian Styled and three stories tall. Alma and Katelyn got out and got their bags. Catherine got her bags and jumped down.
"Come on you guys!" Katelyn said excitedly. Matt and I got up and grabbed our bags.
Matt got down first and held out his hand to help me down. He winked and chuckled. I smiled and took his hand.
He helped me down and Catherine laughed.
"I'm glad he helped you because your so clumsy you probably would've fallen and landed on your face and broken like 35 bones in your hand. That was as graceful as it gets." Catherine said through her contagious giggles. We all started to laugh.
Alma unlocked the door in ones swift motion and the warmth of the house embraced them in welcome. They took a collective sigh and walked into the house.
It was decorated with sleek black furniture. There were countless recliners and sofas and armchairs. A giant Christmas tree stood in the corners with some gifts already under it. There were two winding staircases wrapped in twinkly fairy lights. They both led to the top floor but had a landing at the second.
The kitchen was amazingly big with new looking pots and pans. There was a cute table with six chairs around it.
"There are only four rooms. Yathzy is sharing with Matt. All in favour?" Katelyn said. Catherine, Alma, Katelyn, and Matt raised their hands. I laughed.
"I don't mind as long as you don't mind." I said. He nodded.
"I don't mind."
