Chapter 21: The truth

I've been waiting for Emma to respond now all day. It's 9PM and I'm going crazy. Henry is in bed already. I decide to pick up my phone and just call her. After a few seconds she picks up and i suddenly feel my heart beat a lot faster.

Emma: 'Hey Regina.'

Regina: 'Hi, uhm.. how are you?'
I say a little off guard.

Emma: 'Very confused to be honest.'

Regina: 'I'm sorry..'
I don't know what else to say.

Emma: 'No, i screwed up. I can't really talk right now. But i'll come to storybrooke. Tomorrow. Can we talk then?'

Regina: 'Yes! .. i mean, yes. Please.'

Emma: Okay, i'll see you tomorrow.'

I hang up the phone and go back inside. Where Ruby is watching a movie on my couch. 'Em, come back you're missing the best part!' I sit down next to her. Feeling really sad and really guilty. 'Are you okay, Emma?' I should be honest. To Ruby and to Regina.. i think to myself before i speak up. 'Ruby... i.. uhm. I don't know how to say this. I haven't been completely honest.' - ' What do you mean?' She asks. 'I'm kind of.. seeing someone.' Ruby pauses for a moment. 'You're seeing someone? As in..?' - 'It's just very complicated. She told me she wanted me to leave her alone, but she kind of.. doesn't want me to?' - 'Wow, Em. The phone call just now?' - 'Yes, that was her. I'm so sorry it's screwing with my mind. I really like you but..' She cuts me off. 'No, please. Don't explain it. I should go..' she stands up to go to my room to grab her stuff. 'I mean, you don't have to go right now. You can go in the morni..' - 'Oh no, i'm going right now.' I walk up to her and grab her hand. 'Ruby i didn't mean to hurt you.' - 'Emma, your whole life is here. So i could have figured that there's a love in here too.' - 'Well that's not..' - 'Bye Emma.' And she walks out the door. I stand there for a moment, defeated. Did i do the right thing? At least i was honest. I reach for my phone to text Tamara.

E: Hey T. Ruby is gone, i feel so quilty. She didn't deserve this. I'm going to Storybrooke tomorrow to see Regina. See you thursday.

After a a minute i receive a text back.

T: That's my girl. I'm proud of you. Don't push it with that woman. See ya!

The next morning i drive to Storybrooke i pass by Granny's fast so Ruby wouldn't notice my yellow bug when Mary Margaret suddenly appears in front of my car. I hit the breaks fast and open my door. 'Are you alright?' I hurry to see how she's doing. 'Yes, i'm good! You didn't hit me. I wanted you to stop.' She says. 'Uhm, okay.' - 'This may sound weird.. but i'm so happy i saw you driving in town again.' I look at her confused. 'Did i miss something?' She grabs my hand. 'Believe it or not. I can't believe i missed it. But.. i think.. you might be.. my daughter.' She finally says and my eyes widen. At that moment Ruby walks out of the diner. 'Swan.. what are you doing here?' Mary Margaret lets go of my hand and gives me a piece of paper. 'Come by my house tonight for dinner. I'll explain everything! I have to go back to class now.' And she's gone. 'What was that about?' Ruby asks. 'I don't know yet... i'm sorry Ruby i have to go.' I try to walk away when i hear Ruby speak up again. 'I should have known. It's Regina isn't it?' She says and i turn around. 'I'm sorry.. yes it's Regina.' - 'I can't believe her.. i asked her if i could go after you without making a fool out of myself!' - 'You asked her what?' Ruby helds up her shoulders. 'Never mind. Go..' i go back inside my car and make my way to the town hall.

I'm working behind my desk when mrs. Tink speaks over the audio. 'Mayor Mills, Miss Swan just arrived.' I sigh.. catch my breath and respond. 'Yes, let her in please.' After a minute Emma comes in. 'Hi..' she says with her hands in her pocket. I leave my work for now and stand up. A little worry in my eyes that i totally messed it up with her. 'Hi..' i say back. 'How are you?' She asks to make a conversation. 'I'm.. i don't know. Can we go somewhere to talk? Granny's?' - 'No not Granny's.' She says and comes closer to me. She lays her hands on my hips and my heart is beating fast. 'Before we go somewhere to talk, i have to tell you something. If you still want to talk after.. i'll come with you, if not.. i'm going home.' I rest my arms on her shoulders. 'Emma, you didn't do anything wrong..' she takes a step back. 'I slept with Ruby.' She says fast. I look at her but she doesn't dare to look at me. 'Yes, i figured you two hooked up before.' - 'No, i mean. She came to my house sooner than planned. Like.. monday.' My heart breaks in pieces after hearing her say that. 'But i.. and my text. And..what?' I can't find my words as i feel tears coming up. She still didn't do anything wrong but i can't explain how much this hurts. 'I know and i'm so so so sorry! I left my phone at home and then Ruby was there, telling me how she felt and.. at that moment i kind of..fell for it.' I hear her voice break a little while she explains it. 'Regina, please. I got your text and i ended it with Ruby right after! And i...' i stop her before she can say another word. I pull her close and just kiss her. I kiss her like it's the last kiss ever, but i know it's not. After a few moments of being totally lost in eachothers kiss and embrace we take a moment to breath. 'I still want to talk to you. Let's go to my house.' I say and a bright smile appears on Emma's face. 'Thank you!' She pulls me in again for another kiss and after that i let Tink know that i'm taking the rest of the day off.

We arrive at my house, when i close the door i pull Emma in for another kiss. We are in the heat of the moment entering the living room and fall on the couch. Laughing, smiling, kissing. When i finally pull myself together and let her go. 'We really need to talk first don't we?' She asks. 'I suppose we do.' I smile at her before we both put on our serious face again. 'Let me get us a drink first.' - 'Water is fine.' She says. I come back with two glasses of water. I sit down next to her. 'So, who should go first?' She asks after putting her glass down on the table. 'Please, let me..' i ask and she nodds. 'Before i explain, let me tell you something. So that that's out of the way.' I take a deep breath face Emma and finally say. 'Emma, i'm a lesbian..' I feel nothing but freedom coming over me after finally admitting the hardest part of my life. And admitting it to the one i am so deeply in love with even makes it better. Emma looks at me, smiles and say 'No shit, Sherlock.' I pounce her arm and we both start laughing a little bit too hard. 'How does that feel?' She finally asks and i can't help but continue my bright smile. 'This feels.. amazing. I am so relieved.' Emma pulls me in for a tight hug and whispers 'I am so proud of you.'

We part again and i kinda feel a little relieved myself. Regina grabs my hand 'And, there is another confession i have to make.' She says when she looks at me with her beautiful eyes. 'I am in love with you, Emma Swan.' So this is how it feels like to have butterflies. I smile from ear to ear and pull her in. My lips reach her amazing soft, red lips as we gently kiss before she tries to acces my mouth with her tongue. I give her what she asks and our tongues meet. We kiss passionately and before i know it, she is on top of me. I hear her moan when i grab her waist a little tighter. We continue our kissing as i unzip her dress. 'No, no. Not so fast miss Swan. We still have some talking to do.' She says and closes her dress again. She sits down next to me again and clears her throat. 'Emma, i'm sorry i hurt you. With everything. With the mixed signals i was giving, with what i said.. i was so confused and i hated myself for years. I just pushed myself liking men. But i always knew i could never fall for a man. And then you came into my office and i fell for you the first moment i saw you. I felt like that was so wrong. So i told myself you were just the woman who gave birth to my son. But, you're not just that. I am ready, to give myself to you. I understand how i confused you as well and how you may have react. Although it was stupid and impulsive and really not necessary.' I slap my hand on my forehead but can't help but laugh a little. 'Thank you.. For this. I'm so sorry, that i acted like that after you left. I should't have given up on us so fast. You needed time and space to figure things out and i didn't give that to you and for that i'm so sorry. I was selfish. I hope you can forgive that part and i hope we can forget and move on. Because i want to be a whole lot more to you and of course to Henry as well.' - 'Don't ever sleep with anyone else but me ever again!' She says. 'Okay, but you can never walk away from me again. Are you all in, Mayor Mills?' She waits a few seconds. 'I am all in, miss Swan..... now come with me to my room. You still owe me a punishment for naming that vehicle a hideous yellow monster.' She escorts me to her room. We close the door as hours pass..
