It's been 24 hours since my "dad" told me the news. And 24 hours, that I've been basically barricading myself in my room, packing, crying and...thinking. I didn't tell my friends or my mother. I know that if I do, there's a risk that they'll try to look for me or call the police. I don't want that to happen. I don't want my mum to get hurt.
Looking around my room one last time, I sigh before picking up my suitcase. I mostly packed valuable possessions, like a stuffed animal from my ex, a bracelet from my best- friend, Lola, and a necklace from my mother that had her name, Juliana carved on a heart. Other than that, I had a few jeans, shirts and like two pairs of shoes.
I pulled my suitcase behind me as I slowly tip-toed out of my room. The hallway was dim, almost pitch black. I felt around on the wall for a sense of direction and sigh in relief when I get to the stairs.
"Marianna" I hear my dad call.
"I'm coming" I yell back.
Mum wasn't home right now, she worked at a hospital nearby as a nurse. So leaving at this time was probably the best solution.
Climbing down the stairs, I see my "dad" on the bottom, standing in front of the front door, anxiously looking around.
"Let's go. Mr.Krey is an inpatient man" he scolds.
I roll my eyes and follow him out of the house.

We drove down the sketchy part of town. Large buildings transformed into little homes with graffiti splattered across them. It was night but the street lights made it almost as bright as day. I shuddered when I saw how empty the streets are. Where is everyone?
"You'll be safe with Jackson, don't worry" I hear him say besides me.
I don't acknowledge him.
But, I hope he's right.
He suddenly stops after like twenty minutes of non-stop driving. I gulp when I see how dark the street is.
"Where are we?" I whisper
He doesn't answer.
I suddenly hear a door swing open and two large men step out. When they see our car they walk over to us.
"I'm here to deliver the package" Dad says.
"Who the f*ck is she?" One of them says, glaring at me.
I look away, avoiding his gaze.
"She's the package" Dad says
The two men burst out laughing.
"Boss is not going to be happy" The other says
"Hey, Jeffrey, open up the gates. Richard's here with...the package" He shouts over his shoulder,
"Good luck" The other says before they both walk back into the building.
"What are they talking about?" I ask
"Just keep quiet, sweetie." he sternly says
The door opens up and dad drives into the building. My hearts begins beating out of my chest as we drive further into the area. Unfamiliar faces fill my vision as we park the car.
"Wait for me" he says
I nod.
He slowly opens the door and walks out, quickly closing it behind him. Another man walks over to him and they begin talking. Dad points back at me and I feel my blood run cold when the men's eyes lock with mine. He had these...eyes, that screamed: "don't f*ck with me". He looked back at dad and shook his head no.
