Marianna
l violently shook Jordan awake. Wide red eyes stare up at me in fear. He must have noticed the panic on my face because he abruptly sat up.
"What's wrong?" He asks, concern evident in his tone
"I think...my water just broke" I say in disbelief
His face turns pale white.
"Shit"
An excruciating pain suddenly shot up throughout my whole body. I let out a loud growl before clutching my stomach in anguish.
"Okay, okay" He repeats in panic struck fear
"Let's go" He says as he begins helping me out of the bed
He clumsily runs around in an agitated manner, trying to gather up a nursery bag for the baby. We were unprepared because the baby wasn't due to arrive for another two weeks. It was a surprise, to say the least.
Once he gathered all the supplies for the baby and a change of clothes for me, he slung the bag over his shoulder and walked towards me. He wrapped his right arm around my waist and helped me up, down the stairs and to the garage. Once in the car, he begins backing out of the garage and onto the main street.
Another wave of pain travels through my body. I dig my nails into the armrest as I let out a groan.
"Shit, baby breathe. We're almost there, okay" He reassures
I don't answer but only hum out a response.
I avert my gaze to the radio and see the time displayed in orange '2:53 am'.
I start counting in my head to keep track of my contractions. My next one comes after 5 minutes. This one is way more violent. I attempt to suppress a groan but fail miserably. I see Jordan look back at me through the rearview mirror. He presses further down on the gas pedal, making the car accelerate and jerk forwards. I wasn't wearing a seatbelt and almost fell off my seat.
"Sorry!" He exclaims
I let out a short laugh.
"Jordan, calm down. I'm alright, okay?" I reassure
He visibly relaxes before offering me a small smile.

We arrive at the hospital four minutes later. Jordan immediately hops out of the car, with the nursery bag in hand before helping me out of the car. I hold onto his right shoulder as he guides me further into the hospital. The hospital was practically empty, the only visible person being the accountant who was slouched behind her desk fighting to keep her eyes open.
"Excuse m_"
I interrupt Jordan with another screech of pain.
The woman behind the desk jumps awake.
"My wife is going under labour" Jordan says
I tightly clutch onto Jordan in an attempt to lessen the pain.
The woman abruptly grabs her phone and dials three numbers.
"A-a woman at the front desk is going under labour"
Her gaze snaps to me.
"Name?"
"Marianna Link Rodriguez"
About two minutes later, a crew of nurses burst through the doors and towards me. I let go of Jordan and let them help me onto the bed. Jordan follows closely as they roll me down the long corridors and to what I assume is my room.
