"Get him as far from here as possible"
"I don't care how you do it, find a way" Greyson spat in a thick British accent
Greyson was trying to get his men to distract Jackson so that we could leave.
And while he was doing just that, I was thinking of all the ways I was going to escape.
I'm serious.
What? You thought I'd actually trust the devil's brother with my life?
I've learned my lesson and I will never trust anyone with the same bloodline as Jackson.
I had a plan.
And it was time to effect it.
I hope this works.
It has to work.
Otherwise, I'd be dead.
Literally.
"Good"
Greyson hangs up and turns to face me.
"You ready to go?"
"He left?" I ask
Greyson nods.
"Do you need to pack anything?"
I nod.
"Yes, could you please give me a minute to change and all"
He nods.
"I'll be downstairs. Just come down when you're ready. My people are getting us the tickets and we should be in London by tomorrow"
I nod before giving him a brief smile.
He walks out, gently closing the door behind him.
As soon as he does, I make a run for the bathroom. I stand in front of the mirror and stare at myself.
"You can do this. You can do this." I mutter
I take a deep breath before tying my hair up in a messy bun.
I begin undressing and put on some ripped jeans, Jordans and a tank top with a hoodie on top. I put the hood up and stare at myself in the mirror one last time.
It's now or never, Marianna.
I nod at myself before stuffing my mother's necklace in my hoodie.
I couldn't afford to take any of my things with me.
It'd slow me down.
I couldn't afford to be slow.
I walked to my door and placed my ear against it.
When I heard nothing, I slowly twist the knob open.
There's a slight creek before I peak my head out. I look to my left, then my right.
Nothing.
I step out of the room and slowly close the door behind me.
Was it right or left?
I close my eyes and reminisce.
Left.
I begin to fast walk, all while staying as silent as possible. When I reached the end of the hall, I look to my left, then to my right.
No one.
As I was about to make a turn, I hear voices behind me.
I turn around and see shadows nearing the corner.
Shit.
I take my right and begin practically sprinting down the hall, my footsteps getting lost in the soft, plump and red carpet.
I stop at the end of the hall and this time when I look to my left, I see the profile of two guards.
Shit.
Think, Marianna, think.
I turn around and freeze when I see the petite woman who replaced Cookie and who would bring me a hot meal every day.
I place my finger against my lips and shake my head no.
She looks behind her then back at me before signaling me to come over.
I slowly begin making my way towards her.
"I know a way out" She whispers
My eyes widen.
"Thank-y_"
"Come on. We don't have much time" she urges as she begins fast walking the direction she had originally come from.
I quickly followed behind her.
She led me to a part of the mansion I had never been it.
"Where are we?" I ask
"This is where the servants sleep" She says
I stay quiet.
"STOP" I hear someone yell behind us
I freeze but don't turn around.
Cookie number two turns around, a bright smile quickly decorating her lips.
"Yes"
"Where are you going?" I hear a male voice asks
I know it's one of the guards. I've heard that voice before.
"I'm showing the newbie around. She's very lost" She answers
Silence.
"The king is asking for you" He says
"I...I"
"Now" he spits
"I will show her to her station then join you" she says
"Hurry up"
She slowly turns around and begins fast walking down the hall.
She turns left twice before leading me to a wooden door.
It was definitely different from the ones I had previously seen in this mansion.
She shakily took out the key and stuffed it into the whole.
A click sounds.
She twists the knob open and immediately, rays of moonlight peek there way into the dimmed halls.
"Go on, hurry" She urges
I step out of the house.
"Thank-you so much" I say
She nods before giving me a brief smile.
"Who was that?" I ask
Her face falls.
"The guards" she spits
My face falls.
"Do they hurt you?" I ask
Her face falls even further.
"You have to leave, Marianna. The king will soon return and he will be aware of your absence. You have to go, now" She insists
I nod.
"I'll come back, I promise" I say
She gives me a slight smile before slowly closing the door.
