Chapter 24

Emma's POV

After Killian got Lily and I home I could tell something was bothering him. He didnt speak the whole car ride home. I wonder what is bothering him.

"Your home Swan." Killian says not even looking at me.

"Well... Thank you for everything." I say.

"Yeah no problem." He says.

"I guess I'll take Lily and we will go inside." I say.

I got out of the car and went to get Lily out and still Killian wouldnt look at me or say anything. Lily was asleep and its always a pain in the ass to get her out of the carseat. Great then I have to come back here and take the seat back and have Killian just ignore me like what happened didnt matter.

"Need help love?" He asks.

"No I dont.... Okay maybe I do." I say.

Killian got out of the car and I moved out of his way and he had no problem getting Lily out of the carseat. So as he held her I got the carseat out of his car and then I unlocked the door.

"Umm where do I put her?" He asks me.

"Well you can put her in your bed or you could hand her to me and I'll do it." I say.

"Okay here Swan." He says and hands Lily over to me.

As he began to walk out I had to say something.

"Will you stay? Just for alittle while?" I ask.

"I guess." He says.

I went upstairs and I placed Lily in her bed. It made no sense to me that Killian would be so sweet and kind then out of nowhere shut down. I walked downstairs and he was just standing there.

"I dont understand you. Lately we have been on good terms. We have been working together. So what happened to that? Your acting as if Im ruining your life or something. I mean on the way to get Lily you were nothing but sweet telling me everything will be okay. Then on the car ride back its like you hate me or something. I really dont understand. Please tell me what did I do now that made you go back to being a jerk?" I ask him.

He didnt want to answer that he just tried to go to the door, then he stops himself and turned to face me.

"You Swan did nothing. I just.. What happened with Lily and her father was one thing. What I have gotten you into is worse. I cant let you and your daughter get hurt because of me. If James says this wont end until Im dead then maybe I should just tell James to take me to Silver, let them kill me, and stop this before anyone else gets hurt." He says.

"No. You cant do that. Killian we are so close to closing this case forever. Just a few more days and we will know where James is going alot. You cant shut me out and you can die on me. I wont stand for it. Do you understand me? We do this together and we win." I say to him.

"Wow. You really want to risk being taken or losing your daughter again to help me. Cause if your here they will come for you, both of you and Im not willing to lose another set of people because of me and because I couldnt be there to protect them." He says.

"Then stay. Stay with us until the case is over." I say placing my hand on his.

"Okay I'll stay, but once the case is over I wont be a burden to you." He says and sits on the couch.

I think he actually wanted to stay here to protect us all along. If he has to use the case to hide it then fine. Cause I used the case to keep him here because I dont want him to leave. Not now not ever. Ugh why cant I just be honest with him... Oh yeah because if I am I'll get hurt, but I do want him just once. Maybe we can celebrate winning his case and that one night could be the start of something or just one great night.
