Lists. Taehyung always found lists helpful when conducting an investigation for his blog. They made sure all his thoughts were organised, and allowed little snips of detail to be added into his information. Although the Jimin investigation was more serious than those he did for his blog, he figured that a list would be the best place to start.
"...and that's it. That's all the letter says." Jungkook quickly wiped at the tears threatening to spill and dropped the letter quicker than a hot potato onto the desk beside Taehyung, who was staring down at his feet, fingertips pressed together like some sort of criminal mastermind. The first man had found the letter after rifling through his storage space once he'd gotten let out of (more like ran out of) his meeting, and quickly made his way to Taehyung's apartment. He wasn't in the mood to listen to his manger have a go at him for losing himself on live television the day before.
"Interesting," Taehyung replied, swivelling the chair around so he could use his Macbook. He opened a word document which was titled SUPER SECRET OPERATION: JIKOOK, and currently contained a list of things which could possibly aid their investigation. Taehyung clicked on the page and then pressed the enter button a couple of times to start a new list, this one labelled 'what we know:'
"So, Kook. We need a list of what we know to be true. You speak, I'll type."
"Jimin was ill for a while before leaving. Jimin went to the hospital twice before leaving, once to take a blood test and the next to get his results. Jimin cried a lot before leaving. Jimin had some sort of reason to leave, but he didn't actually want to leave - something to do with a future event. Jimin left letters for both me and the landlady. The landlady's letter requested for me to be allowed to live in his apartment for three months and had a payment with it. Jimin hasn't been seen since, although there have been lots of possible sightings, some just fans trying to stir shit, one from you thinking a guy on holiday was Jimin..." Jungkook was tapping his fingers whilst stating his list, and pushed down on his eighth finger, racking his brains for any more information he had on Jimin. "And that's about it," he finally said, after a moment of silence.
Taehyung finished typing the list and stared at it for a couple of seconds, before speaking. "Right. So, looking at the lists the most obvious place to start for me would be the landlady - see what the other letter said. Then we can add to our lists and see what we can do next. Okay?" Jungkook nodded. "Right, let's go then!" Taehyung got up from the chair and lead the way to the front door, where they put on their shoes and coats. Taehyung grabbed his keys from the bowl beside the door and stepped out of the apartment after Jungkook, calling goodbye to his dogs. They chatted about little things as they walked to Jimin's old apartment complex, mainly because Taehyung knew Jungkook was nervous and the only thing he could think to do was fill the silence with random small talk, so that's what he did. And it worked quite well as a distraction, until they came to a door on the bottom floor which Taehyung assumed was the landlady's apartment. That's when nerves started to get the better of Jungkook, making him bounce on the balls of his feet slightly as he and Taehyung waited for a response to them ringing the doorbell. It was strange, knowing that he might be about to make progress in finding the answer to the mystery which had weighed him down for two long years. He wasn't sure how to bring up the letter Jimin left and dig for any other information the woman might know about his ex-lover's disappearance, but he hoped Taehyung would do most of the talking.
The door to the apartment swung open finally, and there stood the landlady. She was an old, short woman with wrinkles and false teeth, who looked ready to beat both Taehyung and Jungkook up with her walking stick if they wasted her time. At first, Taehyung had wondered whether it was a good idea to talk to her or not, seeing as the look she gave them when she first opened the door suggested that they were going to lose their lives. She had, however, recognized Jungkook and offered him a smile.
