Pry. The saying 'I don't mean to pry' never sat well with Jungkook. If you don't mean to pry, then why ask?

Jungkook should have known it was coming right from the start. The moment he walked into that studio, the interviewer had been giving him an intense, eager eye which was enough to make a social butterfly tear off their wings. She wanted something off of him, something he was sure he could have guessed easily had he not been stupid enough to overlook the evil glint in the woman's eyes. Okay, he may have been blowing it up slightly, but nobody could deny that she did meet his gaze with a purposeful look. That women knew exactly what she wanted from the dancer, and she would stop at nothing to get it. Jungkook had faced these types of people before, and more often than not he was able to glide gracefully around giving them the answer they could use as clickbait for their videos... but it was always easier with Jimin. The other boy had a raw talent for shooting down those stupid interviewers.

To be fair on the woman, she managed to restrain herself for most of the interview. If you call asking about his love life, his family, his private affairs and how much money he earns restrained then sure, she restrained herself pretty well. Honestly, those questions weren't what set Jungkook's anger off - it was the one question he was anticipating in the back of his mind, the thing he knew to expect but didn't want to believe he'd be asked. Not after the heated conversation he'd had with his manager about making sure it wasn't mentioned in any interviews he took part in. But, Jungkook knew that whether he liked it or not, the question on most people's minds was going to come up eventually, especially at this time of year. It didn't matter that it might hurt the dancer's feelings, that it would cause him to go back to Namjoon and Taehyung's sofa and cry a million tears; it didn't matter how much damage the question brought, as long as the rest of the world were able to peek inside his mind, and fulfill their curiosity.

"Now, I don't mean to pry-" No, of course not. It's not like every other question you've asked has been scooping into my personal life as if it were a tub of ice cream, Jungkook thought, bitterly.
"-but it's coming up to that time of year which marks the disappearance of Park Jimin, your best friend and ex-dance partner. How are you feeling about this?"

Rage hit Jungkook like a tonne of bricks, and he's pretty sure he visibly flinched, but he clenched his jaw in an attempt to not shout at the interviewer, who was now looking at him eagerly, a hunger in her eyes. His manager had promised he'd made it clear that no questions about Jimin were meant to be asked, but clearly the interviewer didn't listen, knowing that nothing could be done about it when she asked because they were airing live. It made Jungkook even more mad that although he had expected this question, he had such little self control that he was about to shout at an interviewer on live television.

"My best friend left and hasn't been seen since. It's obvious how I'm feeling about this." Jungkook replied, not giving the interviewer the satisfaction of her desired reply.

"Indeed, it was upsetting for everybody when he disappeared," The woman stated, as if telling Jungkook 'now now, don't be selfish. Jimin meant more to his fans than he does to you, they knew him better than you ever could. You're not special. You don't deserve to cry over him.' "Have you ever heard anything from Jimin since that day?"

"No."

"Do you know who his secret lover was? Did you ever meet them?"

"No."

"Obviously your fans have a lot of theories as to what happened. Do you have any of your own that you'd like to share with us?"

"No."
