Chapter 23

Gideon POV

I checked my phone while waiting for Serena to get dressed, I had a few texts from my head of security. I called him to find out what's going on.
"Carter" I greeted as he picked up the phone.
"Boss we have a problem "
"What is it? " I said through clenched teeth.
"Someone has been sneaking into your penthouse." My breath caught in my throat, how on earth can someone get into my penthouse, it's extremely secure, I have world class security features and guards.
"How? "
"We are still investigating, but I would like to recommend that you return soon"
"Sort this out now, I will be back tomorrow "
I ended the call, turning around I saw her, God she was beautiful, how do I leave her when she needs me now, I know I put her through a lot with all this Corinne bullshit , but I love her, I really do. I hope we can get this dinner over with quickly.

*3 Hours later *
Dinner was good, lots of small talk with Grey , I guess Serena was right,  he isn't such a bad guy after all,  it was lovely to see her with people she cared about,  she is such a pure soul,  how could I have tainted her? She had a peaceful carefree life without me, she was so young,  so innocent,   and hadn't been exposed to the dark side of life,  her biggest decision  used to be what cereal to eat in the morning, Now that she is a business woman  , she takes over companies,  deals with shareholders,  and yet her hardest decision isn't which car to choose or what purse to buy,  it's whether or not I'm here for good or is it going to be like before,  it pains me to see her hurting,  I know she is,  I just don't know what to do to ease the pain,  and now I have to go back,  I mean I was working fine,  just being here with her was pure bliss,  going to sleep with her in my arms was heavenly  , waking up with her is the best part of my day,  I don't want to leave,  yet I have to.

It was around 20:00 we were driving into Serena's basement parking. The sight before me caused my breath to catch,  I saw the worry in her eyes.

Her cars were all vandalized,  every last one of them,  each with a deep burgundy colored paint sprawled onto it,  the cars weren't the problem, they can easily be replaced,  however the fact that someone could sneak through security so blindly and have the time to destroy all 11 cars,  blows my mind,  this was a serious threat, and needed to be dealt with immediately.

I stepped out of the vehicle begging Serena to stay inside, if the offender is still in the building he or she may attack,  the guys and I,  know how to defend ourselves,  but I couldn't allow Serena to get hurt,  never.

Of course Serena being as stubborn and hardheaded as she is,  jumped out the car and trailed behind me..
"Gideon look,  a note" she said as she pointed to a piece of paper on the floor.

"So I went easy on you in New York,  but you still haven't learnt your lesson Cross,  Now it's your woman's turn to face the music,  this is your last and final warning,  you know who I am,  don't think for a second that I'm going to let you off easy,  not this time

Her hands trembled as she handed the note to her head of security.  This place was no longer safe I needed to take her away from here, I would protect her with my life.
I nodded towards her bodyguard, Ross,  he came closer and I gave him a list of things to retrieve from the apartment.
"Yes sir,  would you like me to pack a bag each? "
"No that won't be necessary,  Serena has a bag packed in her closet,  grab that and our passports,  we are going to need it"
I'm taking her away,  she needs this.
