Chapter 28

It's a Monday.

A frikken Monday.

Did I mention it was Monday?

I love my job . I love meeting new people I love reading books and watching people create such wonderful works of art.
However.

I. Hate. Mondays.

Especially since I'm caged in by two python like arms , that belonged to the epitome of sexiness himself. The Greek God, better known as Gideon Cross , CEO of Cross Industries.

"Gideon, please wake up " I cooed . He merely grunted in response, still not loosening his grip on me. I didn't mind , at all. However , I have to get back to work, I've been away for too long . I gently pushed Gideon away, causing him to stir in his drowsy state . "Good morning Angel" he said in his husky morning voice. He kissed my neck and behind my ear , hugging me closer to his frame.

"Good morning love, I have to get ready for work"
"NO."
"Pardon?"
"NO."
"Please."
He groaned and stirred but eventually let go. I walked into the bathroom and got the shower started . The warm water cascaded over my body, cacooning me in its warmth. I felt my body relax , but before I got too comfortable I was hit with the thought of it being a Monday.
So that killed it .

I stepped out of the shower and realised I hadn't brought in a towel and my robe was nowhere to be found .
Oh well I guess I'll just step out naked. Gideon is probably still asleep.

Wrong .

"Mmmmm isn't it a little early to tease me angel?" I heard his morning voice behind me.
"Never  too early  for that Cross." I teased. I stepped around him and into my closet , to get ready for the day ahead of me.

I got into the office about an hour later . I swear it was like I wasn't there for years . I had meetings non stop and calls . Just a lot . My phone rang and I answered it , without checking the caller ID.
"Miss Reselle"
"Mr Grey"

So formal.

"I heard you're back in town"
"Word spreads around quickly.."
"Indeed"
There was a short pause...
"Do you have plans for lunch?"
"Well unless I plan on eating all the paperwork on my desk , to make it disappear than no I'm free "
"Join me ,please"
"My oh my , did the great Christian Grey just say please?" I said teasingly .
"I'll see you at 13h45 , the usual"
"I'll see you then "

I called Gideon to let him know of my lunch plans. He wasn't too fond of the idea. Him and Grey have some beef between them I don't know what it is.

It was currently 13h11 and I was just wrapping up a meeting with a company that wants to partner with my company . However I declined. They have nothing much to offer, and frankly I was bored throughout that presentation.

I walked out of the boardroom and into my office to find a huge bouquet of roses with a note attached .

"Always on my mind beautiful. I can't wait to get you back home . I love you .
-Gx"
I immediately called him to thank him and told him I would see him as soon as I finish up at work .
I was in the middle of packing up my stuff , when my phone rang .
It was Christian.

"I'm coming to pick you up"
That was all .
No hello.
No how was your day.
None of that .

"What is up with you Grey?" I thought.

At 13h34 my phone pinged with a text from Christian.
"I'm downstairs " -Christian

I walked to my private elevator ame selected the lobby.. I expected Christian to be in his car waiting , instead I found him in the lobby waiting for me . As soon as I walked out , I was engulfed into a massive bone crushing hug. Yes. Christian Grey hugged me. How unlike him . Am I dying?
"Whoa , Grey . I missed you too" I said out of breath . I did have the air squeezed out of my lungs, so you can't blame me for sounding that way .
He smiled and kissed my cheek.

Okay I'm dying . It's confirmed.

Grey put his hand on the small of my back and ushered me out of the building to his porshe.
"No driver?"
"Nope it's just us today "
I smiled at him and jumped into the car as he held open the door for me , like the gentleman he is.
He then got in and we sped off to our favorite restaurant. It's actually the first restaurant we ever ate in as friends . Christian was one of the mentors during the time I had an internship with Gideon, so I saw him quite often at group discussions etc. Then we did a "mentor switch" and we hung out at this restaurant. It was super casual , I mean he didn't wear a suit , instead he wore jeans . It was a sight to behold . I'm just being honest .

We got to the restaurant that was situated at a campsite actually. It had a log cabin feel to it . The food was to die for . I swear . They had the best mushroom ravioli I've ever had . Christian said he could do better but he conceded  that it was amazing .
We were seated at our usual spot . Near the window overlooking the lake . It was very private . I have a feeling that Christian hired the entire place just so he wasn't disturbed. He was rather annoyed the last time he was here and people were staring at him. He pulled out my chair for me and ordered a bottle of wine . I don't know why ,but this man knows wine.

"So Serena, it's been an eventful few weeks..."
"What do you mean Grey?"
"There's no easy way to say this but things with Anna are just not working out "
I couldn't help the gasp that escaped my lips . Oh my soul .
Christian you have have a child together , you can't just walk away .."
"He's not mine" as the words left his mouth I watched the man in front of me lose it . My heart sunk and tears welled up in my eyes , I couldn't believe my ears.
Before I knew it , I was standing up and walking over to Christian , it was my turn to engulf him in a bone crushing hug . My heart aches for my friend . He doesn't deserve this . He was over the moon when Anna fell pregnant . She , not so much , I always thought it was because of having to put her career on pause, but I guess I couldn't have been more wrong .
We pulled away after what seemed like an eternity.
"Who's is he?"
I didn't know how to word it so I just said it like it came to me.
"Jack's"
I had to sit down for that . Oh my soul. The same Jack that she said tried to rape her? Poor Anna .
"She must be heartbroken" I said . I mean he raped her . The turmoil she must be going through.
"No they're just fine , I was just a quick way to make money for her "
I was honestly shaken up . Anna was so sweet and kind. Could it be possible that Christian was wrong about this?
"How are you so sure?" I had to ask . Don't judge.
"DNA test." He simply replied.
"What made you do that?"
"We had an argument , and she threatened to take him , when I said she couldn't , she said blood is thicker than water."
Whoa. That's cold.
How could she do this to him?
Christian. My poor Christian.
I walked over to him once again and hugged him.
"I'm so sorry I wasn't here " I whispered soothingly. He pulled me onto his lap and buried his face in my hair . I just held him . He loved her so much. Christian Grey was not one to talk about his "feelings" So I knew this had him feeling a type of way. I don't know why Anna did what she did , but I do know that I'll make her pay. Pay for hurting a man that truly loved her . That's a vow.
