Chapter 23

Natalie's POV
Garuda and Aoda's visits continued every few months letting me know that Sasuke was alright or letting me know where he was. We hadn't met in a while since he had gotten hurt and it worried me slightly. "Natalie were going on a mission to find Sasuke, Sakura and Kakashi are coming and I wanted to know if you wanted to come too." Naruto said looking at me. "Sure Naruto let me get ready." I packed my weapons and threw Kubikiribocho over my shoulder. I walked out of my tent and Sakura and Naruto were waiting for me. We had almost gotten the village completely repaired, so I gave up the apartment they wanted to give me to Kakashi since his had been destroyed. "Let's head out." I said taking the lead. We walked for what seemed like forever and we arrived in am empty field so we stopped for a break. A screech of a hawk interrupted my thoughts and Garuda landed on my shoulder. I took a slip of paper from his beak and went to pet him, but he flew away immediately. That wasn't usually him, Garuda always stayed for a little longer and I gave him affection. I looked down at the note a frowned at the words. 

Natalie, 
Don't come looking for me, or if you do watch your back.

 I looked at the sky and crumpled the paper in frustration. "Hey Natalie are you okay?" Naruto asked. I nodded and looked up at the clouds, but jumped back as Sasuke's face hovered over my own. I jumped to my feet and looked around to see only my team. "Are you sure Natalie?" Sakura asked. I looked at them and nodded once more. "I'm gonna head out for a walk. I'll be back soon." I said turning my back on them. I walked away and into a wooded area and felt a familiar chakra. "Sasuke." I muttered angrily. "Don't be like that, I told you not to come after me. You put this on yourself." He said. I could sense the tiniest bit of sadness in his voice. I teared up and turned to face him. "I don't know if this will be the last time I see you, but I want to leave knowing I did what I wanted to." I said looking at him. He tilted his head and I grabbed his shirt and pressed my lips against his and he surprisingly kissed back. I separated the connection and looked at the blushing Uchiha. I smirked, but frowned immediately afterwards. I walked past him and his hand brushed against mine. I turned around and grabbed his hand that had a kunai in it. I laughed and a few tears slipped down my face. "You've always been so predictable Sasuke." I said letting go of his hand and running off towards the field. I felt him follow me and once I got into the field a shouted for Naruto and Sakura. "HE'S COMING!" I shouted ducking a fireball he shot at me. I was forced back by a familiar feeling. I was pushed behind Naruto's back, but I moved to stand next to him. "I'm not weak Naruto." I said throwing some hands signs and a purple lightning blade appeared in my palm. "Natalie, Naruto be careful!" Sakura yelled. Me and Naruto ran at Sasuke and tried to attack him, but he dodged our attacks. He ran over to Kakashi and stabbed him with his katana and my eyes widened. "KAKASHI!" I screamed. I looked at him and noticed a Rinnegan had taken over one of his eyes. "Madara." I whispered. Sakura ran over to Kakashi and started to heal him. I ran at Sasuke and punched the ground. "Earth style, mud prison!" I shouted. A thick mud dome encased Sasuke. "This will only last for so long. And my energy is going down. Naruto this is your fight." I said running over to Kakashi and Sakura. I feel to my knees and started to help heal Kakashi. Tears rushed down my face, but I ignored them and let my chakra heal him. "Natalie stop!" Sakura shouted. I stopped and looked up at her. "Please help Sasuke go back to the old him. Let me use my life." I went to stop her, but she was already using up her chakra quickly. "Sakura stop please. We can find another way." I pleaded. I heard a crackle of lightning and the wind around us started to spin. Me and Sakura looked up at Naruto and Sasuke. "They'll die if their attacks collide!" I shouted at Sakura. She looked pale and almost on the verge of death. "Then I'll be the one to save them for once." She ran at them and in between their attacks and took both blows, but their hands collided anyway. "Natalie I'll be fine go help." Kakashi said nudging me. I nodded and ran over to them, Sakura's lifeless body on the ground and Sasuke and Naruto next to her. I ran to them and noticed the bloody nub that should've been Sasuke's left arm and Naruto's right arm. I dropped down to my knees and healed the wounds, but Sasuke and Naruto were still not waking up. I leaned over both their bodies and my tears slipped down my face. I grabbed both of their good hands and squeezed them as tears slipped down my face. I heard two sharp breaths being taken in and I opened my eyes to see Sasuke and Naruto sitting up and looking at me. I hugged them both as tight without hurting them and let out a sob. "Sakura gave her life to save yours, she wanted to save you guys for once." I said looking at the both of them. Their eyes widened and then looked over at Sakura's corpse. "Try to heal her." Sasuke said looking at me. "She might be alive. I don't want her death on my hands ." I ran over to her body and summoned Akari. "Help me heal her." I said. "Of course Natalie." She shrunk down to a smaller size and pressed her nose against Sakura's arm. I held my hands over her and used my powers as strong as I could I slipped another chakra pill into my mouth and kept healing her. I stopped once an hour had passed. "Dammit." I said looking down at Sakura, her wound was healed, but she might've lost too much blood. I felt arms wrap around me and I looked at the familiar pink hair that was in my face. I hugged her back tightly and she was still pale looking and she smiled at me weakly. "I only have so much time left, I want you to make sure that they are okay. Natalie you make Sasuke happy, I can see that you both love each other very much. I don't still have the feelings that I once had for Sasuke. I'll see you later Natalie." She whispered. I could feel her slip out of life in my arms. I didn't cry this time, she chose to leave this time and there wasn't anything I could do. Kakashi walked over to us and picked up Sakura's body and I helped Naruto and Sasuke to their feet. We walked back to the village taking breaks to make sure that Naruto and Sasuke would be alright. "Natalie did you mean what you did in the forest?" Sasuke asked me when Naruto was asleep and Kakashi was still running to village. I looked into his onyx eyes and he smiled at me. "Yes Sasuke, I meant it. Once me and Gaara had been fading when we were children I started to grow feeling for you. I guess I'm just like the other girls." I said playing with my thumbs. "You're really not, you're smarter, better, prettier, more skillful. You're just better in every way." He said looking away from my gaze. I could see the faint pink on his cheeks and I smiled. "You know, what do you want to do after you recover?" I asked scooting closer to him and he looked down at me. "I need to go on an expedition and try and atone for my sins." He said resting his head on my shoulder. I smiled and brushed some hair out of his face. "Let me help you heal so we can get you on that path." I whispered. He nodded tiredly and I could feel him fall asleep. "Time to go to the village." I said grabbing a hold of Naruto and Sasuke and teleporting us all into the hospital. "Lady Tsunade help." I said as we appeared in front of her. She nodded and picked up Naruto as I picked up Sasuke and we walked into a room and set them each down on their own bed. I put an IV into Sasuke's arm and then Naruto's. "Natalie, Sakura's parents want to speak with you." Tsunade said. "Watch over them for me while I'm gone." I whispered when I passed her. I walked down to the main lobby and met the eyes of the Haruno's. "I'm so sorry for your loss. If I could've changed anything in any way, I would've. Sakura was one of my best friends and now she is gone, I apologize for everything that has happened to you." I said tearing up. "Natalie Sakura was dying of a unknown disease. We won't grieve because we already have. You cannot blame yourself, I won't allow it. Sakura thought of you as a sister and if she gave her life to save yours, Kakashi's, Sasuke's, or Naruto's lives like we were told. Then I'm glad to know she had a friend who she cared that deeply for." Sakura's father explained. I hugged them both tightly and it comforted me to smell the slight scent of sakura blossoms. I stepped away from their embrace and they smiled at me and Sakura's mother pulled something out of her handbag. "Here Sakura said that she was supposed to give this to you if you ever were to come back to Konoha." She said handing me a brown paper package. I nodded and took it from her hands. "The funeral is in a week." She informed. "I'll be there." I replied. "Natalie, Sasuke and Naruto are asking for you." A nurse said. "I have to go. Thank you for everything." I walked back in the direction of their room, but grabbed two apples and two plates along with a knife. "Natalie how did you get us here?" Naruto asked as soon as I walked in. I smiled and sat down on a chair in between their beds. "I teleported you two. Now please take it easy." I said cutting up the two apples quickly and popping a slice into my mouth. I handed them each a plate of apple slices and Sasuke smiled another once of his handsome smiles. "Thank you Natalie." They said in unison.
