Basically, Kashima Ryuichi isn't the type to fall in love. And I believe this has been mentioned before...

But nonetheless, anything is possible and nothing is impossible.
Destiny will always find a way...

"At least, that's my philosophy of life."

"We made our bed, so we must lie on it. Something like that, right?"

"Right."

Ryuichi thought that Usaida was the only caretaker in the daycare room. Apparently, the pink-haired man forgot to mention about the other caretaker who was on temporary leave. (*If you don't understand, ask me in the comments)

L/n Y/n is a first-year, like Ryuichi. The teachers have known her to be one of the most hardworking students in the whole academy ever since her junior high days. Plus, her older siblings were alumni from the academy.

Her relationship with Usaida is rather complicated. Her father's brother, which is her uncle, is Usaida's father. So that makes Y/n and Usaida cousins. Although, she doesn't know this, and there's a seven-year gap. Additionally, she only met him when she was five. At the current, Usaida acts as her personal guidance counselor.

"Usaida-san, L/n-san, good morning."

"Likewise, Ryuichi."

"Morning, Ryuu."

To those who would notice, it seemed like they were both incapable of feeling romance.
But there were subtle signs, and one man noticed them.

The adult had suddenly formulated the perfect plan for his ship to come together.

"Y/n, let's go out and get some free food samples. Meet me in the park."

"You're so blunt. But still, I can't turn down free food~!"

Usaida's plan was simple.

"Ryuu-chan, let's go out for some food. Meet me in the park."

"Alright then."

You'd get the gist by now.

Of course, the next day, they both met up and decided to go with each together instead.

"Oh, Y/n. I didn't think I'd see you here."

"I'm supposed to meet up with Usaida."

"What?"

The only thing that can make the whole situation more complicated, is the fact that it is Valentine's Day that day.

Since they're not really a couple, it's much more awkward than expected. However, that won't make the stilted tension go away.

"Why didn't he show up?"

"How about...let's just go and get some food ourselves..."

"Fine. But Usaida is getting-"

"A-Ah! Let's just go!"

As expected, a lot of people were out on that day. The two teens got off scot-free for the free food samples because they pretended to be a couple.

"Ryuichi, your face is red. As red as the theme of this store."

"Sorry..."

Neither of them has any experience in pretending to be a couple, so they just winged it. It worked out well, surprisingly. Because of all the pushy adults, they got to bring home more free food.

"I guess Valentines isn't all about receiving chocolate and stuff."

Throughout the whole trip, Ryuichi had stayed silent, not knowing what to do. It's not that he wanted to evade this. Firstly, he's concerned for Kotaro, obviously. But he's actually nervous when he was around her for the whole day.

"Ryuichi? Your face is still red. Are you okay? You've been pretty silent this whole time. Or are you too concerned for your brother?"

She muttered the last part, and even looked disappointed.

"No..."

"No? And what are you hiding behind your back?"

He brings his hand in front of her and presents a beautiful necklace. (One of your liking and choice)

"Did you buy this for me? Or did the chairman-"

"Actually, I came across it earlier. The store owner gave it to me for a low price."

"I don't know what to say. Nobody's ever done this for me before."

It was Y/n's turn to blush this time.

"Y/n, your face is red," the boy teases.

"I know. Hmph! Let's just go home already! I wanna visit Kotaro too!"

Kashima Ryuichi is not the kind of person who falls in love right off the bat. He fell in love with Y/n for a reason. Of course, with her motherly actions towards everyone, who wouldn't love her.

They were not officially a couple yet, for there were still unspoken words.

"Maybe we should do this again next Valentines Day!"

A/N: Funny story, happened yesterday in my school, most of the students wore black. It was also Ash Wednesday. Geez, they were even selling heart balloons!
