"Nice to meet you." I said quickly before me and Ethan's facial expressions became suspicious.

I was stunned, but I accepted his hand shake. Ethan however, was frozen so I nudged him and he immediately snapped out of it.

"Yeah, nice to meet you." Ethan finally said.

Ryan sat back down on the couch as me and Ethan watched shockingly.

"Sit down guys don't just stand there." Sandra said laughing at how Ethan and I were still standing while she was sat on the arm rest beside Ryan.

She gestured for us to sit on a sofa which was usually across the room by the television, but I was guessing she pulled it here so we were directly in front of Ryan. How nice.

Ethan and I shuffled and sat down slowly, our bodies very close but not touching.

"What's wrong with you guys? Talk!" She demanded giving me a look.

"Uhh- sorry I just got back from a lecture and Ethan was up all night filming so my brains a bit slow." I told her and she sighed.

I sighed after her and relaxed my shoulders, shuffling in my seat. I wasn't gonna let this ruin the day for Sandra. However I wasn't considering the fact that he could still be an islamophobic asshole that he was in high school.

Sandra didn't know, she wasn't there. It was only Sara who knew and the school rumours that went around.

People do change though, time changes people. I'm first hand in knowing that. We've all done stupid shit growing up and I didn't want to let that define him as a person and ruin what he and Sandra might have.

I glanced at Sandra quickly and saw the way she looked at him. I was going to try for her.

"So Ryan, do you go to college?" I asked and his green eyes met with mine. He was undeniably handsome and it added to his attraction the fact that he'd gone a small beard.

"Um...no, but-"

"Oh my God, that reminds me." Sandra said quickly before He could even continue.
"Ryan here used to go to the same high school as us until he left." She said full excitement.

Yeah, "left".

"Really! Is that true?" I put on a fake smile and sounded interested looking at him.

He coughed and shifted uncomfortably.

"Yeah and I remember Ethan." He said looking and our eyes met before they glanced at Ethan.

"Everyone claims to know Ethan now." I said taking a sip of my water. The tension in the air was thick. Ethan still hadn't said a word.

"Well, why don't we all sit at the table and eat I'm sure the lasagnas cooled down by now." Sandra announced clearly noticing the awkwardness.

We all stood up at the same time, Ethan was the first to follow Sandra, almost like he was dying to leave the situation because I was too. I looked at Ryan and he gave me a wink which had me taken back for a bit. I quickly rolled my eyes and flipped him off.

He knew who we were and he remembered it all. It was clear now.

I trailed after Ethan and entered the kitchen where there was a lovely table and 4 chairs. Sandra had really outdone herself. I sat beside Ethan and Sandra and Sandra next to Ryan who was on the end, closer to Ethan.

There was the lasagna laid on the table and plates were already put out.

"San, this is...nice of you." I told her and she smiled. "Did you do this all yourself?" I asked her.

"Are you shocked that I cooked by myself for once?"

"Yes, very." I laughed.

"Oh shit!" She yelled randomly.

"What!" I was surprised to be the only person to respond.

"I forgot your hot sauce." She said looking me. She knew me so well and that I loved my food spicy.

"It's cool, I don't mind." I told her so she would relax but her eyes were still bewildered.

"No, it's in the car. I'll go get it." She said getting out of her seat and racing to the door.

"No, it's fine let me get it." I skipped after her.

"You guys both sit and let me get it." Ethan said from behind me. Throughout all this Ryan was tapping on his phone.

"Both of you shut up and sit down!" Sandra yelled clearly frustrated, but she didn't know that both Ethan and I were trying to escape this situation.

We both returned to our seats and waited for the door to slam shut. When she was gone I looked at Ethan who flashed his teeth at me.

"This is a great little surprise." Ryans voice made me jump slightly and grab Ethan's arm.
"Who's think that you too would end up together. This is wild." He chuckled.

"What's gonna be wild is your face after I'm done with it." I automatically said out of habit. Ethan had a smirk on his face and Ryan looked at me in shock.

"Oh, still feisty I see." He grinned and Ethan slammed his hand on the table.

"You're such a disgusting human being and Sandra's gonna find out what a islamophobic asshole you are!" I pointed my finger at him.

"You would really do that. Firstly, you don't know if I've changed. I was a different person in high school. I'm sure Ethan can agree to that." He looked at Ethan who remained silent.

It was unfortunately true. Ethan became a whole different person after high school, bit that he was even bad during it, he made mistakes though. He failed to stick up for me after I helped him and yes it hurt, but it was the past and it was how we met and what brought us here. I wouldn't take back what happened.

I also become a whole new person, I didn't even recognise myself anymore. I think it would be selfish if we didn't give him a chance at least to prove himself.

"And if you haven't changed?"

"You can decide what to do. I'm sure you wouldn't want to ruin a whole relationship based on what happened when we were high school because that-" he stopped to sip on his drink. "That is just childish."

The door flew open and Sandra rushed inside and tossed her car keys on the nearby kitchen counter.

"I'm back with the hot sauce!" She announced and opened the fridge.

"Just know that I will expose you for the revolting human being that you are if you dare mess with Mal or Sandra." Ethan hissed quietly at Ryan, his veins visible on his neck. My heart raced seeing Ethan like this.

I shook away my compelling thoughts and returned to the situation.

"Feel free to." Ryan said, his glare piercing through Ethan and I.
