I tried to open my eyes. I wake up to a light so blue and harsh its mere force seems to pry my eyelids apart. The air smells like antiseptic. I was wearing a mask, helping me breathe. I could feel the wires attached to my body. The familiar sound of a monitor beeping. My heart rate was slow and steady.I tried moving my fingers. Then, I look around to find no one standing there. The room was empty which made the silence deepen. My throat dry, in need of water. That was the moment I felt stuffy.

I needed someone's comfort.

Faye's POV

I could feel my palms sweating. My heart picks up a beat faster. The silence was getting to me. I wanted someone to be beside me. I didn't want to be lonely and scared like I was. I removed the mask rather harshly and tried taking deep breaths in an attempt to calm myself down.

I could feel my pulse slow down and I heaved a sigh of relief.

I look towards the door, hoping someone would walk through those doors and comfort me. I hope they don't hate me after what I did. I know what I did was selfish. I was too self-centered.

My destiny was to happy with a new life that I was provided with. I couldn't be more thankful to the moon goddess for giving me another chance to live a life that I have always wanted. There is still a part of me hesitating, the darker side of me actually, wanting to drag me down but I won't allow it. This time, I will stay strong.

The squeak which came from the door interrupted me from my train of thoughts. The smell of his scent which was a mix of cinnamon and chocolate made me instantly knew that it was him. I look up, meeting his eyes. His beautiful blue eyes that soften when they locked with mine.

We just stared at each other. I was admiring his big build and tall height while I was just short and extremely skinny. He was the definition of perfection. His lips formed a smile and I couldn't help but fall in love with it.

His presence alone made me feel safe and secure. One feeling that I had never experienced. I could feel the power radiating off him as an Alpha. He was too good for me. He had everything while I had nothing. There was a moment when I looked down, not being able to maintain the intense eye contact.

"You're awake." He said, smiling and I couldn't help but smile. I knew he was relieved that I was alive. His dark eye bags showed me that he was tired and I couldn't help but think it was because of me. I had done this to him. I tortured the one person whom I am suppose to care about. I just nod and look away shyly. He moves slowly and cautiously in an attempt to not scare me. "Aren't you tired?" My voice came out as a whisper but I knew he heard it. "You should get some rest since I am awake." I could see the doubt in his eyes but he slowly began making himself comfortable and falling asleep.

My fingers made a move to brush a few strands of his hair out of his face that had fallen. He is probably the most handsome man I ever laid my eyes on. He made me feel comfortable and I didn't want to stay away from him.

We had a connection and I knew it was the mate bond. My wolf was at peace with our mate nearby. I hope this moment will last forever. Inside, I was still scared but I had to step out of my comfort zone a little.

All those dark nights and nightmares will be there but I have to stay strong and face it. Another squeak came from the door and there stood my best friend, Bella, her eyes were red and puffy and I knew she had been crying. I felt guilty because I knew I did that to her. I couldn't move because of the machines attached to me.

Instead, I open my arms for her to hug me. She comes running in and engulfs me in a tight hug. I could hear her light sobs and I rub her back in comfort. "I am okay now. Please don't cry." I said soothingly. She just nods in reassuringly. We stayed like that for awhile before we were interrupted by a man in his 40s.

I am assuming the man was a doctor as he was wearing a white lab coat. His tired looking eyes widens as he meets my eyes. His eyes then roam to my mate and reluctantly came in. "You're awake Luna." He bows his head at me. I  nod. "I will see you later Faye. "Bella waves goodbye. "Are you feeling better Luna?" I nod. "Let me remove the wires." He moves closer hesitantly before removing all the wires after he switches off the machine. "Do you mind if I do a simple checkup on you?" He looks at me."Sure." He proceeds and once he was done, he said that he will ask a nurse to bring in some food and he bows once more before leaving.

I stood up, curious about the unfamiliar surrounding. I look out. The sun shining, reflecting the trees which were tall and thick. The shadows of the trees hiding a pair of clothes which I am assuming is for anyone who needed it after shifting. In the distance, I could see the faint sight of houses but all together it was a nice view for someone like me to see. One of the rarest moments of my life is watching a heavenly side of this cruel world.

Tears fill my eyes. I was disappointed in myself. Everything that I had done since I came here was to be a burden. I troubled my mate so much. I have been nothing but self-centered.

Out of the blue, I am reminded of one person, Audrey. Oh no, where is she? I neglected her.

That was the moment when I finally broke down. My knees made contact with the cold floor. An hour of being strong was pushing myself beyond my limits. Tears kept streaming down and I held my mouth to avoid waking my exhausted mate up.

Tears were still flowing down as I tried to stop crying. The more I tried holding in, the more it came. I hid my face in the palms of my hands. A pair of strong arms wrap around me and as an instinct, I turn around and wrap my arms around my mate. I bury my head in his chest as tears flow out. He held me, rubbing my back in circles. The sparks and tingles I felt from his touch were comforting.

"You are not alone anymore." I didn't realize I had woken him up. "I'm sorry." I apologized. "It's not your fault Faye." I like how he said my name.

My eyelids felt heavy as my cries became hiccups. I tried to keep my eyes open but failed to.

I soon drifted off to sleep.
