IVY'S VIEW
Chapter One

Christmas, everyones favorite holiday, spending time with family, getting gifts and eating delicious food. But my Christmas is different from everyone else's. You see, my step-parents are always busy on work, trips and you name it they're doing it. We never spent Christmas as a family nor have I seen them on many of my holidays, which isn't surprising.

Let me tell you a bit about myself.

Hello, I'm Ivy Jade, a seventeen year old girl. I was adopted into the Jade family but was never ever treated like one. Yes, I should be grateful and all but how can I show it if no one is home? I go to school at West Java High, as a senior and it is my last year of school, till I go college.

During holidays, I am always alone in the house doing nothing but staring at a wall or using my phone. My parents are really busy 24/7 and I rarely see them at home. When they are off work, they either go on holidays or visit family, as if I'm not there. What breaks my heart the most is the fact that everyones happy faces light up as they get gifts or visit family but I get nothing.

They think that electronics would keep me happy but they're wrong. My father pretty much gives me a whole stack of electronics, thinking I would be happy but no. I'm not happy.

I wish I could just scream in their thick heads about how I feel but that would make them angry and make them lash out at me so I have learned to keep quiet, bottling up my feelings.

The Christmas holidays are ending tomorrow and after tomorrow, school starts again. I heard we were getting new students and they were all guys. Apparently they were brothers and they are good looking, at least that's what I heard.

I walked up the familiar staircase and into my room with a packet of cookies and milk in my hands. No, they aren't for Santa, they're for me. As I close the door, I heard the sound if keys dropping into a bowl, that meant that my parents were home. I quietly ate, not knowing where they were, not really caring either.

"Ivy dear?" My mothers voice called behind the wooden door.

"Yes, mom?" I asked, opening the door.

She walked in and made herself comfortable on my couch. "How are you?"

"I'm fine. You?" I asked.

"Work is very stressful," she chuckled.

"Oh," I said, a little disappointed we couldn't have a conversation that didn't include the word 'work'.

"Merry Christmas my darling," she smiled, getting up and headed towards the door.

"Merry Christmas, mom," I mumbled back.

She walked out and I heard her room doors shut. My mom and dad aren't really the same. You see, mom actually makes an effort to talk to me while dad just ices me out like I'm nothing, well I technically am nothing to them.

I hopped into my bed, happily enjoying the warmth around me as I fell in and out of consciousness. Finally, getting the right spot, darkness whooshed over me and I feel into a slumber.

Chapter Two

I woke up to my alarm clock beeping in my ear. Today I go back to school and let me tell you, I am not excited. It's a new school year meaning new people, friends and rules.

I hopped into the shower and scrubbed my body down. Changing into a baggy shirt and jeans, I walked into the kitchen and ate an apple from the fruit bowl. After eating, I grabbed my bag and drove to school in my red BMW.

"Hey Ivy!" My best friend, Tamara, called as she walked closer to me.

"Hey Tam!" I greeted her with a side hug.

Together, we walked into school and went our separate directions. She was headed for English while I went to Maths. I got my books from my locker and turned around, seeing everyone facing the front doors. I squeezed through the crowd and saw four gorgeous guys, walking in. One accidentally made eye contact with me and he stared then started to whisper at his brothers. Before they turned their heads, I was away from the hallway and heading towards Business Studies.
