Two weeks had passed since Amelia went out for breakfast with Billy. In those two weeks they had barely spoken. The first two days of the week she had tried to make conversation but he had refused to give her any attention. That had left her startled for she just couldn't understand what had caused his immense mood swing, especially since they had shared some personal and sweet moments.
At school he held up his bad boy attitude, surrounding himself with girls which irritated Amelia immensely. Since he refused to talk to her, she had done most of the assignment herself. Apparently chasing girls was his top priority.
A day before they had to debate in front of the class, she handed him a copy of the assignment and he hadn't even properly looked at her. That was the final straw. In that moment she had made a promise to herself to not care about him anymore. She kept trying to convince herself that she couldn't handle a guy like him and that she'd better focus her attention on someone else.
So instead of her constantly worrying about what she might had done or said that caused Billy to ignore her, she spent her schooldays goofing around with her friends and being plastered at Steve's side. She felt happy for a while. But happiness usually is short-lived.

On Monday something quite interesting happened. Amelia and her friends had decided to eat in the cafeteria as it was a bit chilly outside. Amelia tried to avoid lunch in the cafeteria as much as possible since it usually looked and tasted disgusting. So thankfully her mom had made her some lunch that morning.
They were all sitting at a table; Amelia, Jonathan, Steve, Rebecca and Nancy. It was pretty uncomfortable as Steve and Nancy refused to look at each other. Even though Steve was moving on, he didn't like the fact that Nancy and Jonathan became so close in such a short time.
Amelia felt like something was going on, like Nancy, Jonathan and even Steve shared a secret of some kind. Amelia had been feeling this for quite a while and she had always shrugged it off, but she slowly became annoyed by the weird atmosphere.
Sarah noticed the tension between Nancy and Steve and quietly ate her apple, trying to stay out of it. Rebecca decided to break the ice and spoke to Nancy about a course they had together. While they were busy talking, Amelia looked around and saw Tina, a reasonably popular girl scattering flyers around the cafeteria. "Party at my place!" She shouted so everyone surrounding her looked around. "It's this Friday, so prepare yourselves!"
When she came to their table she stuffed a flyer in Steve's hands. "It's best that you're there too, King Steve." She said mockingly. She threw a few flyers on their table and walked away. Amelia grabbed one and saw the address and date of the party. "It's not very smart to just throw your address around." Sarah said as she examined the orange flyer. Rebecca shook her head. "Tina isn't smart at all, so it doesn't surprise me."
"So, who's going?" Rebecca asked. Sarah shook her head which was no surprise to anyone. "I'm in." Steve said and he nudged Amelia's shoulder. "You too?" He asked. Amelia nodded and stuffed the flyer in her backpack. "Nancy, how 'bout you?" Nancy shifted uncomfortable in her seat and looked at Jonathan. "I guess I'll be there." She said while she kept her eyes on Jonathan.
"I promised my mom to go trick-or-treating with Will." Jonathan said. "With your brother? He's perfectly capable of going by himself." Amelia remarked. Jonathan shrugged and Amelia noticed the look Jonathan, Nancy and Steve shared which made her feel quite annoyed.
Why wasn't she informed on the big secret?
At the end of the day, everyone had heard about the party Tina would be throwing on Friday night. Amelia had even seen Billy holding a flyer in his hand as he walked to his car. Secretly she had hoped that he would show up so perhaps they could actually share a decent conversation.
