June's PoV
I looked over at Albert, and he called out my name loudly and clearly.
Damn it. Damn you, Albert.
"Get over here, June!~" Albert called loudly, already having the two boys on his team, with a couple of other recognizable people from freshman year.
The boy with stunning eyes looked at me, and I couldn't help but look back.
He smiled at me, and stuck out his hand.
"Hi. I'm Nick."
"Hi Nick," I responded, taking his hand and shaking it. His smile grew gradually as I introduced myself. Albert and the other guy came over to us with a couple of other worthy players on our team. I glanced over at Albert, who had the team huddled up like some kind of weird sports posse.
"Alright, guys. Sam, Ryan, and Cassie. I want you guys to be on defense, and catch any balls that come towards us. Julian, and Nick, I want you to be on offense with me; meaning pegging the other players with balls as hard as possible. June, you too." Albert decided, sending the team to specified spots.
I nodded, my gaze catching on Julian's. He nodded towards me in acknowledgement, and I did the same back. He smirked, and opened his mouth to say something, but the loud, shrill ring of Coach Mathias' whistle cut him off. He ran to the front of the divison line between the two teams with Albert and Nick.
I jogged up behind them, taking an empty spot next to Nick. The whistle blew, and both teams raced to the line of balls in the middle of the gym.
I managed to grab two, and I handed one to Albert. Julian was pretty fast, dodging the balls that flew at him. I laughed as Nick goofily threw balls, and tried to dodge, but at this point, he'd already got out two times. Heh.
"June! Take the right side!" Albert yelled from the sidelines, waving his arms frantically, looking like a complete idiot.
"But everyone's on the right side! You make no sense!" I yelled back.
"Can someone please get me the fuck back in?!" Nick yelled, waiting in the short line of students who were out. Julian nodded breathlessly, and quickly caught a ball, releasing everyone from our line back onto the floor.
I dashed towards the left side, disregarding what Albert said. What I didn't realize was that Julian had actually followed his instructions.
SMACK.
"Oh..."
I groaned, my eyes rolling up to the ceiling. Julian fell backwards, groaning.
The coach's whistle pierced my ears, making me cringe. Suddenly, my eyes met with those greenish, brownish eyes once again.
Julian standing over me, his hand outstretched. Another smirk was torn across his lips, although his look may or may not have wavered when he crashed into me.
"Uh..Sorry," I muttered lowly, taking his hand and rising. He was significantly taller than me, and I refused to make eye contact. He smelled heavily of smoke, and coffee.
Just like Albert, but with an unfamiliar twang to him.
"My fault. He asked you to go right, not me."
"Yep. You're right." I agreed, grinning and spinning on my heel, jogging towards Albert to help him.

I stood, hoping that nobody saw that slick move she pulled.
Just my luck, Nick sauntered over to me, laughing hysterically.
"Picking up girls, 101, by Julian Casablancas." He choked out, smacking my back.
I flushed, cooly blowing him off.
"Shut the fuck up, Nick."
"Oh no, seriously, Jules. How do you do it? I can just never....get the gir-"
I shut Nick up with a swift punch to his side, making him cry out in half pain, half laughter.
"WATCH OUT!!" A voice screamed. Nick spun around, only to find that a ball was flying towards him. He stuck his hands out, successfully catching the hard, rubber ball.
All of our team screamed, and I realized; Nick had caught the last ball and won the game.
His blue eyes shot up in excitement, his scream ringing out over everyone else's. June and Albert ran up to him, wide grins on their mouths.
"Awesome, man!"
"You did it!!" June screamed, throwing her arms around Nick and giggling.
Yep.
How to pick up girls, 101.
Casablancas, 0.
Valensi, 1.
