"and I've been waiting for this time to come around,

but baby running after you,

is like chasing the clouds..."

WEAVING THROUGH what seemed like an endless line of traffic, my thick, dark hair whipping around my face, I pulled it into a ponytail, and began flipping through songs on my phone to pass the time. Unlike most people, I actually enjoyed traffic - no matter how weird that may sound, its true.

You could stop and just look at what's around you - you know - enjoy the little things in life. It feels as if everyone's constantly on the go, not caring to stop and spare a moment to breathe. And I guess in a way, that was true. I mean, New York City isn't called 'the city that never sleeps' for nothing.

After about 30 minutes of careless scrolling through social media, I was pretty content. The sky was a nice shade of gloomy gray, the color that made you want to crawl into bed, and cuddle up with a mug of hot cocoa, and a nice book. But some people weren't as happy, and soon the noisy streets became filled with the several honks coming from the cars that were eager to get home.

I couldn't blame them, of course. I wanted nothing more than to go home after a crazy day at school, involuntarily shuddering at all the homework that was ahead of me.

But as the line started moving, and the cars finally stopped the excessive amount of beeping, the sight that caught my eye, almost made me tear up.

Emphasize the word almost.

Oh who was I kidding? I was pretty much bawling like the hopeless romantic I am.

A few cars down from me, a man, clearly out of breath from running a long way I assume, ran up to a taxi, and out came a woman, who had shock, evidently written all over her face. I rolled down the windows in attempt to get a better idea of what was going on, and it was clear, that whatever was about to happen, was going to change both of their lives forever.

He was going to propose.

"Melody Harper Rose, will you marry me?" the man breathed out, as he got down on one knee.

The woman was now crying, along with all the other bystanders, who stopped to watch the unfolding scene.

"But, you're flying out to London tomorrow, for your business?" she sobbed out, a wave of sadness clouding over her face, her bottom lip quivering.

"Nothing in this world, could ever compare to you. I don't care if I resign, if I get fired, or whatever he decides to do with me. But I know, that if I don't have you, then this life isn't worth a single thing." he concluded, staring her in the eyes.

A wave of "awes" and cheers erupted from the streets, as the "newly wed" couple kissed, and exchanged their growing and loving affection for one another.
