THE MOMENT my behind touched the chair, I felt like Arnold in the Magic School Bus series.

In other words, I wanted to stay home today.

If it wasn't for final exams before winter break, I would've kept my lazy self in bed.  Curse the school board for making school start this early. It wasn't even 7 o'clock in the morning, and I was already feeling my inner Grinch start to come out.

It wasn't until the teacher came in, that I felt like shoving a desk out the window.

Just kidding, I'd never do that.

Or would I?

"Morning class!" he began, pushing his chair into the center of the classroom so he could stare us down easily.

How was he so cheerful this early in the morning?

"I've had about 2 Red bulls since 6 in the morning, McKessy," he retorted, making the class chuckle.

Whoops, did I say that out loud?

"Anyways!" he clapped his hands together, putting both of his feet solidly on the ground. "I have assigned you all a project over the break! Nothing big, nothing big, just something I'd like to see so I could help you all get to where you want to be in this class."

A collective groan was heard all around the class, myself included, and now I really felt like Arnold.

I knew I should've stayed home today.

I raised my hand, and suddenly everyone's eyes were on me. Is there something wrong with raising my hand? I mean sure, I never really was the type to raise my hand all the time, but I've got some serious questions to ask this man.

He was clearly delusional.

I mean, who assigns homework over break?

"Yes, Ms. McKessy?" he asked, taking out the papers for what I assumed was the test.

"Well, I don't mean to be rude or anything," I began, and people started scooting lower into their seats, "but don't you think its a bit cruel to assign homework over a break? I mean, its called break for a reason."

He stayed quiet, his eyes on me, and the class went so silent, you really could hear a pin drop. Finally, he opened his mouth to speak.

"You're new here, am I right?" he asked, sitting on the edge of his desk. I nodded my head, confusion bubbling inside of me.
