"if I lay here,

if I just lay here,

would you lay with me, and just forget the world..."

"AND THEN SHE SMILED," I exclaimed as I threw my hands in the air, "the nerve this girl has is just nauseating."

I was expressing my inner emotion that had been pent up for the remainder of the class period, and I decided to take it all out on an innocent bystander. That bystander was actually Zac, who made it his job to remind me I looked like a constipated duck the whole way down the hall.

"All I'm saying is," he started slowly and raised his hands in surrender, "if you don't take the stress level down a few notches, I'm afraid that vein on your forehead is gonna explode."

I narrowed my eyes at him and slapped his shoulder - okay, it was actually his elbow because he's a tall idiot - and he pouted. "Why are you so worried about my veins, when you should be telling me that she's wicked and absolutely bat-shit crazy?"

"Hazel, I've known that since the first class she and I had together back in 2nd grade, when she made a poor kid drink glue for fun." He looked at the disgust clearly written on my face and grimaced slightly as he shook his head. "My sentiments exactly."

"I just wish there was a way to make her back off, you know?" I pondered out loud, and when I was met with silence, I looked over and saw Zac lost in thought as he stared straight ahead and walked a bit slower. Just as I was about to ask him if he was okay, his eyes widened and he grinned.

"Meet me outside the school after school ends," he called as he sprinted down the hallway to make it to class on time.

"Okay?" I said out loud to no one really, and wondered what in the world he had thought of. I walked down the hall and turned left to get to my last class, and I couldn't help but think that whatever he had planned, wasn't going to be simple.

And boy was I right.

After the last bell of the day rung, I sped out of class, making sure to make a run for it before the halls became clustered with people. I crossed the school courtyard and walked out the gate to the parking lot where the kids were already climbing into their cars.

My eyes scanned the lot until they were met with the signature smirk of Zac Rider. I walked over to him and made sure to look both ways in case some jerk wasn't paying attention to the road. When I made it over to him, I was still as utterly confused as I was when he sprinted off earlier. "So, what's this glorious plan of yours?"

"Hear me out," he pleaded and held up a hand to silence me, "you hate Arabelle with a passion, yes?" I nodded. "And you want to make her back off, correct?" I nodded again. "And I would love nothing more than for her to stay away from me as well," he said as he looked at the school, "the girl's had some crazy obsession for me for years now, and there aren't enough fingers and toes to count the times I've told her I clearly wasn't interested."
