A knock on the door woke Ayame from her slumber. She irritably stood, leaving Sayakah on the bed alone as she approached the door. She opened it, staring up at two jounin. One she could recognize as Kurenai, although the other was unrecognizable.
"You've been summoned at the chunin exams test grounds. Your test has been decided on as a fight."
Ayame attempted to close the door but Kurenai's companion, caught it.
"You will be attending this test." He growled.
"May I get dressed?" She snapped back. She leaned forward, her eyes suddenly widening in recognition.
"Asuma?" She chuckled and straightened. "I recognized Kurenai but...you look nothing like your younger self."
"I'm sorry, who are you?" He asked, Ayame's smile falling. She stared at him for a moment than Kurenai who looked equally confused.
"You'll see." Was all she offered to say before closing the door. Ayame quickly got dressed before turning to Sayakah, placing her on her back as she followed Kurenai and Asuma to the training ground.
Before she was able to walk in, Asuma cut Ayame off.
"The child cannot step ground onto the battlefield. Safety issue." He crossed his arms. Ayame glanced at Sayakah who was sleeping. Most of the village had been quiet and vacant on their walk to the training grounds, although Ayame was beginning to understand where everyone was.
"Take care of her." Ayame whispered to Kurenai before Sayakah was taken off her back. Ayame watched Kurenai carry her off before Asuma looked down on her expectantly.
Ayame glanced at him and walked towards the entrance. Two jounin stood guard and as she slipped by then, she couldn't stop herself from glancing to her right. The familiar face of Kotetsu towered over her, looking down on her. Ayame didn't spare a glance back as she stepped through the entry tunnel.
Danzō looked over his gathered men and scowled.
"An Uchiha is our biggest problem. Ayame was never the strongest, so it won't be too much of a problem to get rid of her. Even though there will be clones down there, strike with every intention of killing her. Understood?"
"Yes sir!" They all echoed before scattering. The men and women were seated amongst normal villagers and shinobi, all eagerly waiting for the arrival of the one being tested.
A shadow cast upon the dim light of the tunnel and an excited murmur fell over the crowd, quickly silenced in pure shock and confusion as Ayame was revealed. She stepped forward and looked around, shielding her eyes from the blinding sun.
"I welcome you all today to the judgement of this young lady who has returned to our village in hopes of becoming a member of our ANBU and a proud shinobi of the Leaf."
"Returned?!" Hushed voices asked curiously. The third Hokage looked down at Ayame.
"Introduce yourself, young one." He urged, Ayame looking up at him. She sighed and straightened up.
"I am Ayame Uchiha." She announced, her voice projecting against the walls of the arena.
"I️ am the daughter o the Great Uchiha Defenders, Manzo and Yasmin. I've returned after seven years of absence and I bring my sister, hoping for sanction and to provide to my original home as a kunoichi."
Yells broke out, opposing her declaration. They yelled inaudibly about her murders and how she was never destined to become a shinobi, although Ayame blankly stared at the Third Hokage. He met her gaze as she quirked an eyebrow, the man throwing up a hand for silence.
