Chapter 23

After two years in the village, Ayame had finally gotten used to village life once again. Sayakah had been promoted a chunin while Ayame had been promoted squad leader of her own squad.

Her squad was returning from a two week mission, Ayame only getting sleep five out of those fourteen days. She dragged her feet as she returned to the Anbu locker room and changed out of her uniform.

"We'll report to Lord Hokage tomorrow." She yawned. "Get plenty of rest."

"As do you, captain." A Kunoichi patted Ayame's back as she left the room, heading home. She started home but turned to look at Kakashi's door. She walked forward, knocking softly on the door.

Almost immediately, Kakashi opened the door. Ayame smiled up tiredly.

"Geesh, do you ever take this thing off?" She teased, pulling at his mask as he caught her arm.

"How was the mission?" He asked as she walked inside.

"Tiring." She hummed. She trekked into his room, spotting Sayakah on his bed.

"Kakashi." She whispered, looking at the ground to see where thin covers were spread out.

Ayame attempted moves Sayakah onto the floor, crawling on the bed and collapsing. Kakashi moved in beside her, feeling his chest against her back. Her breath hitched, feeling his arms possessively wrap around her waist and pull her against him.

"Get some rest." He murmured, resting his chin atop her head. Ayame fell asleep quickly in the position, waking up around noon. She sat up, looking around. Kakashi and Sayakah were both gone, Ayame stepping out of bed.

She walked out the house, holding her hand up against the blazing sun. She walked to the training grounds, spotting Kakashi with a Kunoichi beside him. She narrowed her eyes, sensing three extra chakra.

Ayame leapt down infront of Kakashi.

"Hey." She breathed, not sparing the other girl a glance. Before Kakashi could reply, she turned as Naruto lunged forward. Her sharingan intensified but before she could cast any genjutsu, the girl stepped between them. She blocked Naruto's arm and he landed on the ground.

"Naruto?" Ayame stepped around the Kunoichi irritably. "What are you doing here?"

"He was placed on Kakashi's team, Team 7."  The girl answered. "I'm Iya."

"Kakashi, who the hell is this?" She snapped in irritated defeat, turning to face him.

"I'm his girlfriend." Ayame froze, turning to Iya. "So who the hell are you?"

"You have a girlfriend?" Ayame whispered, glaring up at Kakashi. She felt an odd feeling in her chest that made her suddenly become upset. She turned, smiling to Iya.

"Sorry, I'm Ayame. An old friend of Kakashi." She introduced with a gentle smile. Her eyes showed the blazing fury burning in her chest at the information.

"Nice to meet you." Iya smiled, seemingly relieved by Ayame's response.

"I️ should go, I've been summoned by Lord Hokage."

"Another mission?" Kakashi called.

"Something like that." She replied, marching away.

"Hey, Ayame!" Sayakah yelled, running beside her. Her hair had grown long, reaching her mid back.

"Hey." She replied. Sayakah cocked her head.

"What's wrong?" She frowned, Ayame shaking her head.

"I'm your sister." Sayakah reminded her, Ayame sighing. As she opened her mouth, Akiko running up behind them.

"You're back!" She yelled, leaping onto her back to hug her.
