Yes, she was waiting for me...waiting for me erect and alive, a real, living bride...as she hoped to be save...and, when I...came forward, more timid than...a little child, she did not run away...no, no...she stayed...she waited for me...I even believe...daroga...that she put out her forehead...a little...oh, not much...just a little...like a living bride...and...and...I...kissed her!...I!...I!...I!...and she did not die!

Erik returned to his Angel. Oh, how she had sworn to be his living bride!
He slowly lowered his lips to her forehead and kissed her, she did not die as he had thought would happen. No, she lived and moved her head closer!
He fell and cried at her feet. She cried too and their tears mixed.
"Take this," he held the golden wedding ring and stood, "for you and him. As a wedding present from me."
She took the ring and hugged him...like a living bride.
"When I die, you must return to get rid of the body."
He told her how to do such an act and where she would find his body and to bury him with the ring. She nodded and hurried off to her love.
She hugged Raoul and cried into his chest, the sadness which she felt was the same as the living corpse who adored her so.
