"Catherine!" A girl wrenches her head up feeling an uncomfortable movement in her neck. She makes a very quiet groan hearing the laughs of other university students and rubs her head.

"It's the end of class." The teacher says as Catherine realizes she's in a room with other adults she has never laid her eyes on. Rubbing her face she stands up grabbing her books.

She doesn't apologize or say anything and walks up the bleachers leaving the room. It's the last class of the day for her so she can head back to her apartment and study for finals next Friday. She turns on her phone and puts her headphones over her ears, which has been along with her neck.

She opens up her phone and reads three missed calls from her mom. 'I was in class.' Catherine thinks to herself annoying and swipes her phone to callback her mom. The phone rings for a few seconds before it's picked up.

Before Catherine can even speak her mother begins a ramble, "Catherine!! Where are you? Why haven't you called? You're not at your house! I've been here a while, where are you?! You can't just go anywhere without saying where!!"

Catherine makes a large sigh and rubs her forehead, "sorry mum I had to stay at the university for a while." She mumbles rubbing her temples with her fingers, she had an awful headache.

"Well come home right now young lady!" Her mother snaps and the chat is ended. Catherine rolls her eyes then goes into Spotify and turns on some music.

'Oh, well imagine
As I'm pacing the pews
In a church corridor

And I can't help to hear
No, I can't help to hear an exchanging of words
What a beautiful wedding
And yes, but what a shame,
What a shame
The poor groom's bride is a
Whore

I chime in with a haven't
You people ever heard of
Closing the god damn door~'

Letting the music play she slings her bag over her shoulder and leave campus. She waits at the bus station and then takes the bus back to her apartment complex. Soon she's at her door and unlocks it seeing nothing but her furniture. "Mom?~"

"SURPRISE!" The lights went on the show all her family members and a banner that said happy birthday. 'I forgot it was my birthday.' Catherine thought to herself and smiled then laughed as everyone rushed forward to hug her.

She hugged everyone she could back and was able to count a lot of people. Seven of her cousins were here from her moms and dads side of the family, she had her aunts and uncles, and her mother's parents; who were her favorite grandparents.

They all had cake then it wasn't a big cake but even if her family wasn't the wealthiest they always made holidays so special. They all ate together a small meal, they about random things about work and some of her younger cousins talked about school.

Soon though it was time to open gifts, so they all gathered in Catherine's living room where she had a few gifts. "Thank you, mum." She said reading the name tag of the first gift. It's in a white bag with golden swirls it's very pretty, and the wrapping paper is also gold. She takes the wrapping paper out and finds a box and reads 'Peoples' on it.

"Mom..." she slowly says as if she needs validation it's a 'Peoples' box. Her mom smiles and edges her to open it, she opens up the box to find one of the typical jewelry boxes and opens it.

She almost gasps but makes a laugh, it's a beautiful silver necklace with a heart-shaped pendant on the end. She can see it opens and opens it up finding a picture of her mother and her brother Kyle. "Mom... this is so beautiful." Since her family wasn't the richest people to live her mom shouldn't have gotten something so beautiful looking.

"I know Kath, want to show everyone?" Shes referring the small pictures inside and she quickly takes the necklace out and opened up the heart again, "it has a photo of mom and Kyle." Catherine explained and passes it around so other people can look at it too. Kyle was her older brother, though he passed away about two years ago in a car crash.

When the necklace got back to Catherine she put it on, letting the silver pendant dangle over her neck. The family continued to open gifts then started to talk some more. Catherine loved being with her family it was always so much fun and so special. Soon they all left leaving her alone to clean up her stuff. When she looked at the clock she read 12:43 am and sighed they had been here for so long.

Catherine cleaned all the dishes from the cake and put away the gifts, she looked at the necklace she wore twirling it between her fingertips. Suddenly though there was a loud bang from her front door, Catherine whipped her head and was able to hear growling. She widens her eyes and runs to her kitchen grabbing a large steak knife and makes her way to the bathroom. Then she hears nothing and looks at the door from the bathroom, there was a small hum it was very soft at first then grew.

There was a huge blowing up noise and the door was blown up and it forces Catherine back into the door. Her head hits the frame really hard and groans her vision was a little blurry and she saw several large shadows in the doorway. She hears several clicking noises and the creatures step into the room.  She stands up pointing the knife, "you can have whatever you want! just leave me alone!" She screams but the creatures continue. One comes in front of her and she tries to stab it but it harshly grabs her wrist and she is slammed against the wall.

"Let go!" She screamed and kicked him where the sun doesn't shine. The creature made a loud roar and let go leaning down. She runs to her bedroom but her hair is yanked back and her body violently smacks to the floor. She can't move and feels a scaly something pick her up growling. Her vision is blurry, her heart drums in her ears and her entire body aches. She feels the air outside and sees several other shapes though then there are more roars and the thing drops her.

The human girl sees shapes fighting, metal against metal clashes and roars of pain are heard. Catherine tries to sit up and does so against the wall of the complex. She is only able to see another figure come to her after more silence follows. It picks her up again this time though its incredibly careful and she feels another pair of hands. Shes laid down onto the concrete seeing silver masks around her, her eyes are barely open and she feels a prick in her arm. She looks to see there was a needle and tries to move herself up but the creature gently pushes her down again.

She feels more tired and feels her body feel heavier, she is starting to leave conciousness and feels the arms from before picks her up again. The last thing she remembers seeing is silver flashes and the noises of clicking and purring.
