Soundwave is a third in command Decepticon who sees and knows everything.
What if the two discover a secret that was never meant to be found?

Knockout stood in the medbay, waiting, with Lazerbeak in his servos. The drone was chirping and jerking in the medics grip- hoping to get back to its master. Once Soundwave arrived, Lazerbeak was released. Knockout vented as the little drone attached to the mechs chest platings.
"You are lucky there was no permanent damage. Right-wing was busted, and the cerebral cord almost snapped in half."
Soundwave nodded, which was his silent way of thanking the medic. Without a word, he turned around to leave, happy to know his small companion would be okay. In the doorway, Breakdown had just appeared. He paused and looked between the two Decepticons.
"Am I interrupting something?" The blue mech questioned. Knockout retreated towards a corner of the room, pulled out a tool, and held it towards his assistant.
"Nothing important. What took you so long?" He complained. "I need buffing out. It's a hassle trying to do it without you."
Breakdown frowned and shook his helm. "Fragging Autobots took the last key. Megatron is furious. He wishes to see you-" he nods to Soundwave, "and wants us to continue with our research on the synthetic Energon."
So the Autobots did succeed in retrieving an Omega key. Soundwave felt a pang of guilt for not retrieving the second Omega key. Now the enemies held two, while Megatron only had one sitting in the vaults.
"Soundwave," Megatron's voice crackled through his audio receptors, "report to me immediately. We have urgent matters to discuss."
His voice faded out. Breakdown pushed past the mech and towards Knockout, who had begun trying to buff out his shoulder platings. Soundwave always wondered how the warrior could stoop as low as to do simple, unproductive chores for the medic. He himself could care less about his appearance- all that mattered was serving Lord Megatron - winning the war.
Maybe then he could fulfill his exigent desire to make his sire proud. Something a sparkling often found themselves wanting to accomplish, yet Soundwave could never shake off that desire to honor the mech who died protecting him back on Cybertron even if he had been offlined for thousands of years.
Soundwave passed several vehicons in the halls, none of them paying attention to the communication officer. At most, one or two raised their helm and nodded in respect, but then nothing.
Megatron stood waiting on the upper deck of the Nemesis with his servos clasped tightly behind his back. The sun reflected off of the warlord's silver platings, hitting off of Soundwave's visor as he approached.
Even as third in command, Soundwave couldn't help but feel intimidated standing next to the warlord. They had known each other for eons, even before the war. Of course, Megatron had long since forgotten being a sparkling when Soundwave had still been living with his sire and carrier. But they had grown together.
They had become good friends before the war began, and though he wondered if it was for the best cause, Soundwave had quickly become a follower of Megatron when the Autobots slaughtered his sire. Also, Soundwave felt obligated.
It was one of the first battles- there was an ambush, and Soundwave was one of the civilians caught in the crossfire. He had gotten severely injured. Without Megatron's rescue, he would have never survived.
Megatron changed in less than a few years of the war. Thirsty for energon, and cruel, without a doubt in his helm on what he wanted to accomplish, what he wanted to achieve.
Power. Dominance. Fear.
Within his thoughts, Soundwave didn't notice Megatron staring at him, wondering what the mech could have drawn himself into that would make him forget where he was.
"What have you found?" He finally asked. His third in command snapped away from his thoughts and turned towards him. Within seconds, the visor covering his face platings was showing earlier footage of Starscream speaking with Arachnid.
The sound had gotten cut off, covering up the potentially crucial conversation between the two Decepticons. Yet from the way Arachnid smirked and smiled, Megatron could understand the two were up to no good.
How petty he is, Megatron thought, for him to believe he could get anything past me?
"It appears my second in command wishes to overrule me." He mused, looking away from Soundwave. Of course, the seeker was always boasting and speaking of his future rule over the Decepticons. Every bot on the Nemesis knew that he was hungry for the power Megatron had.
Soundwave wondered how long it would take for Starscream to fall off of the edge and take more drastic measures for becoming the leader. First, it had been the dark Energon Megatron received in the spark that pulled the mech into the first in command.
After initially trying to prevent Knockout from healing Megatron, Starscream prevailed for a short amount of time. Until finally, the medic found it better to save himself from the wrath of Megatron when he'd eventually wake up.
Soundwave spoke as he took a small step forward. "Starscream wants to rule the Decepticons."
"Indeed, he does." A growl escaped Megatron before he shook his helm. "But we have larger matters to attend to, Soundwave. First, we must retrieve the remaining Omega keys from the Autobots. Optimus will not be willing to hand them over, for it will be the end for this planet as it would for his own."
"Perhaps...we could set- a trap?" Soundwave's audio cut in and out as he pulled several voices forward.
"Unlikely," Megatron grunted.
The two stared off into the sunset, watching the sun slowly drop lower and lower into the horizon. Megatron wished there were easier ways of obliterating Optimus' spark, while Soundwave wondered if he had ever seen anything more beautiful than the sky at dusk.
Finally, the warlord huffed. "Continue your search for Energon, for now, until a more feasible plan occurs. Report back to me." Soundwave continued to stare at the sunset but nodded silently.
"And keep an eye on Starscream."
Immediately, a video feed of Starscream strutting through the hallways appeared on Soundwave's visor.
That, he could do.
