Chapter Eleven

Chad's POV

"Hey, just call me Dawn. I-" Dawn stopped abruptly and I glanced up just in time to see her sway. My arms immediately reached out and caught her.

"Dawn?" I called, then realized it's useless when she simply went limp in my arms. Macon and Ryan, judging by their looks, had gone into panic mode and Derrick just seemed shock. My brain reeled into action while I took control one more time.

"Make way, guys!" I shouted, scooping Dawn up into bridal style and getting a good grip on her. "Macon! Lead the way to the clinic. Ryan I need you to follow us and keep look out. Derrick! Go and find Guardian Belikov, Guardian Hathaway and Guardian Castile, they should be together, if not, find and get them to the clinic. Now!" I barked out, moving along the path the novices had cleared.

Derrick jerked out of his shocked mode and ran out of the room, hopefully to find Dawn's parents and Guardian Castile. Macon went straight ahead, leading the way to the clinic. I can hear Ryan behind me, all three of our footsteps urgent and hurried.

Finally, the light of the school clinic shone upon us and our footsteps, if possible, moved faster. Macon step forward and opened the door, while Ryan rushed in ahead to call the doctor. 

Soon enough, a Moroi doctor stepped out of what I presumed as an office the minute I ran into the clinic. The doctor led me, too slowly, towards a room and gestured to the bed. Getting the meaning, I stepped in and carefully laid Dawn on the white-clad bed.

"I will have to ask you guys to leave the room while I attend to her." The doctor said. While Macon and Ryan looked at each other in hesitation, I already had my answer.

"No." I said. Three pairs of eyes shifted to me. "We are her guardians, we are supposed to stay with her at all times, especially when she is with someone we do not know. I understand that you are a doctor, but please forgive me; that doesn't mean that we can trust you. If you may, please allow at least one or two of us to stay while you attend to her."

The doctor looked as if she's taken aback by my words, but nonetheless allowed me to stay. Macon and Ryan were told to wait outside.

Once Macon and Ryan left, I scanned the room of potential dangers, which wasn't much unless you count the surgery instruments and bottles of medicine. When I have noted the points of entries and exits, taken note of the hazardous items, I watched the doctor worked.

What seemed like hours, which was actually about ten minutes, the doctor looked up and smiled at me.

"No need to worry. She is simply over-exhausted. Can I asked, is she the dhampir queen- Dawn Belikov that people has been talking about?" The doctor asked.

I nodded.

"Well, I believe then, in her case, was over-exhaustion of the bonding with her guardians. She bonded with two today, hasn't she?"

"Three, actually. She fainted after she bonded with the third one." I replied.

The doctor smiled. "Well then, I suggest that rest and fluid will do her some good. To inform you, doctors in the academies have been given special orders by Queen Vasilissa to study spirit and also Dawn's magic. So I believe the bonding Dawn has with each guardian is as strong as a shadow-kissed guardian. According to our research, by 'creating' shadow-kissed guardians, a spirit user have to spent about eighty percent of their engery and magic. That is why the spirit user will be so worn out." She explained.

But I wasn't interested in that. What I was though, was what had that got to do with Dawn. The doctor, seeing my impatience, continued smiling and explained further. I wonder how she could even smile in this situation.
