22 VA Fanfic TNB Sequel_Chapter Twenty-Two
She stood there, as frail and weak as an old lady of a hundred years old would be. Well, at least I think she has to be a hundred years old, or even older. I knew better than to believe the feeble appearance of hers. My legs straightened as I stood up, staring at her all the time. Our eyes never left each other.
I could feel the eyes of my RGs on me, as well as grandmother's and whoever had walked into the kitchen. My eyes stayed on Yeva, though, never leaving her.
Finally, she spoke. "Well, aren't you going to greet me? I think you already guessed who I am." She said. Her voice, like her appearance, sounded fragile and, well, old. However, anyone could hear the strength behind the voice behind the hoarse and aging edge.
"Great-grandmother." I said, my voice coming out in a mutter, gluing my words together.
Yeva shook her head. "Tsk. A Queen should know better than to mutter." She chided.
I couldn't believe my ears. Here she was, talking to me as if we hadn't just met, as if she hadn't appeared in my dreams, as if she had been in my life as my great-grandmother since I was born. I was rendered speechless. Any witty comment I would have thought of if it was anyone but her who said such things to me were gone. No thoughts except those of disbelief were clouding my mind right now.
Then just as fast as any thoughts were gone, questions popped into me. My eyes focused on the old lady, my great-grandmother, the woman who had warned me of Edmond's death.
*FLASHBACK*
It was dark. There wasn't any furniture, any light. It was like a black hole. I was alone. This is a dream, that I am very sure about.
Then an old lady appeared. She walked slowly, looking frail yet strong. She looks... Familiar. Like I've seen her before.
She didn't speak as she looked at me, as she approached. Her movements were paced; she's not in a hurry, nor is she flustered or anxious.
When she was but a few feet from me, she stopped. Her eyes scanned me, taking in my form, drinking me in. Her eyes showed nothing. No emotions, no thoughts.
Then she spoke.
"There will be a death. Everything comes with a sacrifice." She said. A shiver ran down my spine.
"I don't understand. Who are you?" I asked, shaking my head, trying to get rid of the fear I have. Not fear of this woman, but fear of what she said.
"My name is Yeva. You just have to know this. That and I will never try to harm you." With that said, she turned and walked away.
"Wait!" I cried out. "What exactly are you trying to tell me?"
No response. I am alone, once again.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
I did not wake up right after the dream ended. It is not a spirit dream, yet it isn't a normal dream either. When morning came and it is time to set out, this dream was forgotten. At that time, it just seemed like a nightmare. That I was just thinking too much, and my mind brought me into another 'world' while I am asleep.
Seems like I was wrong.
"How did you do it? How did you know? What else is there?" I asked, firing question after question at her.
Yeva, no- great-grandmother strolled over to the table and sat down. Meanwhile, we had attracted the attention of almost everyone else in the house. The other group of my RGs were up, standing awkwardly at the entrance of the kitchen, while my aunts, cousins and parents were crowding around in the kitchen.
