first day back at hogwarts

they had a funeral for Elijah

emerson hadn't talked to anyone since that day at the hospital

she's been emotionless

she's shut out everyone

most people didn't even know what had happened

"Emerson, we have to leave for the train in half of an hour" her mother said to her as she was packing

she just simply nodded and then her mum walked back out with a slight frown

emerson and her mum flooed down to the station

"bye emmy i love you have fun, promise me you'll stay safe?" her mum said

"i promise, mum" emerson said with a smile

tears welled up in her mum's eyes, as that had been one of the first times her daughter had talked to anyone since that day in the hospital.

emerson got her thing and got into the train and went into a compartment with two girls in it

they both had slytherin ties on so she knew it was fine

"hi,i'm emerson holland and you are?" she said in a monotone

"shouldn't you be sitting with them then?" one of the girls said pointing a few rows back on the opposite side to where malfoy, crabbe, goyle, and blaise sat

emerson looked back and a flood of memories with them cluttered around her brain

and there was one little face that was almost always there

her brother

she pushed the memories out

"well not exactly, 'should be'" emerson said in a monotone so no one could hear the hurting in her voice

"well then, hi i'm daphne greengrass" the blonde girl said

"and i am Olivia Phoenix" the girl with a strawberry blonde hair color said

"nice to meet you both" emerson said

once they got to hogwarts the three girls walked to a carriage

malfoy ran up to where he saw emerson

"EMMY FINALLY I FOUND YOU" he said stopping in front of her

she smiled at him before walking to the carriage with Daphne and Olivia

he was left dumbfounded and blaise walked up next to him and just patted his back

" just give her time she's hurting right now" blaise said

emerson went and sat at the slytherin table with the two girls she had met

they talked about random things that they found interesting like spells; or random boys they fancied

emerson kind of zoned out

"well em any boys you fancy" olivia said with a smirk

emerson thought for a moment

"not not really, that's a waste of time" emerson said

wait a waste of time that's perfect

well who would be a good distraction

mafloy?

no no not him

he wouldn't be a distraction but merely a reminder

"anyone in there?" daphne said waving her hand in front of emerson's face with a laugh

"oh sorry,i was just thinking" emerson answered

"i think malfoy fancies you" olivia said gesturing to the starring boy with sad eyes

"no we are just best friends" emerson said pushing away the idea of him 'fancying' her

last day of school

it was finally the last day of first year and emerson was both excited and sad

she didn't want to leave her friends

over the year she kind of distanced herself from her old friends and grew closer and closer with the girls she had met on the train

"promise you'll write?" olivia asked emerson for probably the 100th time whilst they walked off the train

"yes, i promise" emerson said with a slight laugh

she hugged the girls goodbye before running to go find her parents who were over by the malfoys

draco walked past emerson and looked down sadly

"so how was your guy's year?" constantine asked

"it's was great" emerson said with a smile

"eh it's was ok i had to deal with pansy all by myself these last few months because someone decided to stop talking to us" draco said referring to emerson

"and why would she do that?" celeste asked

"you see that's what we don't know, she just ignores us" draco said

emerson looked down at her shoes awkwardly

"now that isn't very nice, emerson" celeste said

emerson mumbled something but no one heard

and thank merlin they didn't

they all flooed back to their own manors

emerson went and sat on the couch

"so we've decided we are going to go on a little vacation" celeste said excitedly

"ooo where?" emerson asked getting up from the couch and walking into the kitchen where her parents were standing

"we are going to be spending our summer in Dublin, Ireland" Constantine said excitedly

emerson jumped up and down from excitement

she had gone when she was very young but didn't remember it

her great grandfather was a pureblood irish wizard but her grandfather then moved to great britain where her family now lives

so it would be fun to go to Ireland

she made sure to write to olivia and daphne

and even a few letters to draco her mother made her write because it would be 'a nice thing to do' since it was his birthday and just to be nice and considerate
