the locket looked to have weird symbols on the front with a snake in the middle that had a head on both sides of it

on the back there was writing that was too small for her to read

there was a note at the bottom of the box she pulled out and begun to read

" my dearest daughter , i am truly sorry that i was never there for you to grow up but truly i couldn't help that. i do not know the exact time you will recieve this locket but when you do i will be near. wear this necklace at all times and do not let anyone take it from you as it is a piece of me i am giving to you. i will return and i will succeed in what i couldn't do in the beginning.

emerson put the locket around her neck and tucked it under her shirt to ensure no one would take it

as it was the only thing she had of her true father at this moment.

"well what did it say?" draco asked

"it's-it's from my father" emerson said in a quiet voice just incase there was someone listening

draco nodded understandingly before handing her a small white box

"happy christmas emmy" he said with a genuine smile

she smiled and opened up the box and there was a beautiful black princess ring with emeralds placed on it

"holy salazar, thank you so much draco" emerson said and hugged draco which caused him to blush

hermione had gotten emerson a little locket and there were two half's , a gryffindor crest and the slytherin crest and they matched up together

ron had just gotten her some candy that his mum sent in the mail for him , which is not something she would've expected

and harry , well his situation doesn't really make him able to buy christmas presents so he just hugged her and said happy christmas

emerson went to her first class which on this day it was potions

she walked to potions and sat at her usual seat next in between draco & olivia

"today class we will be brewing a girding potion, can anyone tell me what a girding potion is?" professor snape said

"what we will be brewing today" a gryffindor said from across the room which caused snickers to be heard from around the room

"i do not tolerate disruptions in my class, 10 points from gryffindor and i will be seeing you in detention Mr. Thomas" snape snapped and the room fell silent once more

emerson raised her hand to answer his original question, since he was so rudely interrupted

"yes , miss riddle?" snape said

"the girding potion will give the drinker extra endurance" emerson said politely

"correct , 15 points to slytherin" snape said and emerson smiled at getting the question correct and points for her house, but snape really would give points for anything

snape instructed the class to begin brewing

emerson opened her book to the page in which had the directions and needed ingredients

she picked up the specific amount of dragonfly thoraxes and cut them up as said to in the book then put them in the brewing pot

then picked up the already clipped fairy wings and sprinkled them into the pot

next put in the flying seahorses as instructed

and lastly dropped in a few of the doxy eggs then stirred it 4 times before leaving it to simmer.

snape came over and check their table's brews to see if they did it correctly and with emerson , draco , and olivia being the bests in this exact class they got a O (outstanding)

they had the rest of the class to chat amongst themselves which they took well to their advantage
