"Hey!" I yelled over the loud music that Derek was blasting through his speakers as he was doing chin ups on the bar in the corner.

"Hey." He said back but kept exercising shirtless.

"Derek can you stop for a sec." He paused and then let go of the bar dropping to the ground. "Okay can you also put a shirt on? It's hard to have a serious conversation with a shirtless guy." Derek grabbed his shirt with a confused look on his face.

"Serious conversation?" He asked as he pulled his shirt over head.

"Yeah we really need to talk." He folded his arms.

"That's never good, whats wrong?" I sighed.

"Okay well lately, I've kinda been feeling left out." His eye brows pulled together in confusion.

"Left out from what?" He asked and his legs were spread equally apart while I was standing still fiddling with my car keys.

"I feel like everybody knows something that I don't." He looked down, so I continued. "Every once in a while somebody has said something, mainly tom, that makes it sound like your hiding something from me." Without even looking up at me he took a step forward making me step back. "Don't." I said and he looked up. "Derek things have been so good for the past few weeks don't tell me it's about to be ruined?" He shook his head.

"No it's not, nothing is going to come between us okay." He tried to reassure me with his eyes.

"If there is something, I need you to tell me." I said putting a hand up to make sure he didn't walk any closer. "I need you to tell me right now, because then I won't be feeling this paranoid all the time." He clenched his jaw and then unclenched.

"There isn't anything to tell. You know people are always trying to break us up." He said and I had to agree with that part. I nodded.

"You promise me, no more bad surprises?" I asked and he slowly nodded.

"I promise." I put my hand down and he took that as I sign I wasn't going to flip if he came closer. He walked to me and pulled me into his chest. I wrapped my arms around his waist and he kissed my head like he always does to calm me down. "Ethan called." He said after a few seconds of silence. I sighed and cuddled him closer. "I think he's right, what do you think about you and me going away for a few days?" Looked up to him and he moved his hands from my shoulders to my waist.

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"Ethan has a small cabin about an hour away. He said it's quiet, secluded. Maybe it can help you to relax?" I smiled at the idea of it.

"Just you and me?" I asked making sure and he nodded.

"Do you think I could handle going if anybody else came?" He said sarcastically and kissing my forehead. "If you ask your dad tonight then we came leave this Friday for the weekend?" I slowly nodded.

"Yeah, we'll see what my dad says to me going away with you for a whole weekend." I said unsure, and Derek chuckled.

"I'll come with you to ask, why don't we go now and get it over with." I nodded and Derek let go of me to grab his keys.

"He'll probably be at the station though." Derek nodded and just before I walked out the apartment I was pulled back and In to a hard chest.

"I almost forgot," Derek said and before I could ask what he meant he kissed me. It was quick and almost hurt my lips but he smiled. "Hi." I laughed at him and we made our way to his car.

I knew I was a bad person but now I'm definitely going to rot in hell. Why am I such an idiot to promise her that everything was fine. I should have just been honest then maybe we would have a chance to sort things out. I looked to Haylie sat in the passenger side. I could tell she was nervous to ask her dad by the way her hands kept fiddling with each other. I did what I knew should calm her down and moved my hand from the steering wheel to hold both of her fiddling ones. She smiled up at me appreciation all over her face and we soon pulled up to the sheriffs station.
