Three years had passed since Hinata Hyuga had last seen Naruto Uzumaki. It had also been almost three years, since the birth of their child, Boruto Uzumaki. Boruto was born prematurely just a few months after Naruto left. Apparently in that time, she had already been almost two months pregnant, yet she had no idea, because she didn't show any of the typical symptoms.

When she found out, she was devastated, and thought about writing letters to Jiraiya, but she figured that they wouldn't go through.
Like Naruto had requested, she waited for him and would continue to until he returned. When he left, it seemed like every guy suddenly had an interest in Hinata, but the only person she could ever want, was no where to be found.
That promise ring really came in handy, when guys would approach her, because she'd always say that she was engaged. Though it had been a long three years, she was determined.

Alongside Naruto leaving, Sasuke did too. Sakura, along with everyone else were left in the dark about where they left to, and rumors spread from thin air. The most believable one was that Sasuke and Naruto had gone to the army after tracking down the men who had murdered their parents. However, Hinata refused to believe it. She was a pacifist after experiencing all the abuse she had in her lifetime, and avenging the death of their parents wasn't justifiable by any means.
Her logic was based solely on the saying,
"An eye for an eye leaves the entire world blind."

Naruto was in a bad state of mind when he left, but she didn't think it was so bad, that he was capable of murdering someone.
As fate would have it, they all ended up pregnant. Sakura had her daughter, Sarada, just a few days after Boruto was born. Sakura's daughter looked almost exactly like her father, but she had Sakura's caring eyes, she is beautiful to say the least. Boruto had blue eyes and blond, disheveled hair, just like his father had predicted their child would look.

Her life had changed drastically, but her father remained in her old home with his now fiancée, alongside Hanabi, who was now a Senior in high-school, preparing to attend college the following fall. Neji was also in college, alongside his girlfriend, TenTen.
Hinata on the other hand lived in an apartment overlooking the city of Konoha, and attended Konoha university.
She had turned into a very mature young woman.

While holding Boruto in her arms, she made her way to his bedroom, while singing his favorite lullaby. His blue eyes were soon covered by his eyelids, while he smiled slightly. Bending down, she kissed his forehead before smiling at him, and lightly caressing his chubby cheek.
Though Boruto had never met his father, she made sure that he had at least some idea of who he was. There were plenty of pictures of Naruto around her house, and she made it known that the tall man kissing his mommy, in most of the photos, was his estranged father.

At times it amazed her how much her son looked like Naruto. It also amazed her to know how strong she was to be raising a toddler as a single mother. She was balancing school, work, and a toddler, but she made it look easy for the last two years. Three years was a long time for anyone to wait, but she never lost hope that Naruto was coming back to her. The night he left, he took a part of her heart with him, and she knew she wouldn't be complete without him back in her life.

Sakura on the other hand, had long lost hope of Sasuke ever returning, though Hinata knew that she hoped he would. She had done well for herself, and Hinata was proud to call her one of her best friends.
Sighing, Hinata looked down at the other piece of her heart one last time, and wiped the one tear that had fell from her eyes, as she thought of his father.

Walking out of his room, but making sure to leave the door slightly cracked open, she went into the kitchen and started washing dishes. While washing one of Boruto's bowl, she got a strange feeling, and felt her flesh get goosebumps.
Turning off the faucet, she tried to listen to hear anything out of the ordinary, but there was nothing to be heard, except the wind blowing the wind chimes on her balcony.
