slumped on the wooden chair,
head down, gaze drawn
to the patterns on the desk
atmosphere was overwhelming
unblinking, yet avoiding
looking others in the eyes

I walked on eggshells
too cautious of blurting out
words I always regretted saying
zipping this mouth shut
only replying in monosyllables
and annoyance weaved in my tone

I didn't want to be worrisome
but the way your eyebrows creased
and your fingers snapped
knocked some senses into me
finally taking in the reality

it was you
everything didn't make sense
until the time I saw you
until the time you asked
"what's wrong with you?"
until a smile crept onto my lips
something only you can do
until you finally said
"now this is finally you."

thank you for reminding me
that I'm still alive
whenever I forget how to.

the numbers I start every chapter with are the date (yy/mm/dd)

(I know no one writes the date like that.)
