"RUN!" I conduct the boys. They listen to my orders. I begin to, and my backpack gets caught on one of the branches. "HELP!" I yell. Robbie comes back and untangles it, then hoists me onto his shoulders. "WE GOTTA WIN THIS THING!" He yells. We catch up with Mordecai. Robbie motions for him to come. I grab his hand - well, wing, - and Robbie runs. A tree falls in our way. Robbie stops and steers us to the left. Another tree falls. He steers the opposite direction. We make good time before another one falls.
"Guys," Robbie says, catching his breath. "You think we should just do this?" He unzips his backpack to take out some blueberries, poisonous ones.
"Oh my god!" I exclaim. "You killed tributes with these?" I say.
"Timmy, Trixie, Sanjay, Megan and Bea," he says, smiling like it's an accomplishment. "They haven't watched the games."
He each gives us 5. Perfect.
"Are you ready?" He says, taking a breath. There's a fat tear running down Mordecai's face. "Yep. I'll see Margaret soon, huh?" He says, revealing a tiny smile.
"Margaret? Who's th-" Robbie starts.
"Mordecai's dream girl. She was killed by the careers," I announce. "And actually, you wouldn't just see her, I would too. And Robbie."
"Whatever. Hey, hold on," says Mordecai, going into my backpack and pulling out our energy drink. "To surviving this long to the final three," he says, and takes a gulp of it.
"To the final three," Robbie says, taking a gulp when it was passed to him. He passes it to me. "To the final three," I say, taking the biggest gulp. I was too busy fighting the past two days that I forgot about my thirst level.
"Are you ready guys?" Says Robbie sadly, and he sighed. I nod sadly. "Yep," I say.
"Yeahuh..." Says Mordecai, with less enthusiasm then on his show.
"On the count of three. One," Robbie starts.
"Two," I say glumly, realizing death was so near me I can taste it. Literally.
"Three," says Robbie, as we all put the berries on our mouths before another message goes over the speaker. "STOP! STOP EVERYTHING!" It yells. "Congratulations to the victors of the 78th annual Cartoon Games!"
I drop the berries to my boots with shock. Me and my two best friends I've made in the Games have won.
