Two months later

"Ugh...I can't wait until it gets warmer outside." Dinah groaned.

Normani chuckled at her girlfriend's words, but agreed nonetheless and pulled her jacket closed to keep the cold air out.

It wasn't that cold outside because it was the end of February in Texas, but it was still windy. It's been mostly cloudy the last couple of days and in the high 70s.

Warmer weather was coming very soon for them.

"I'm actually burning up down here." Daniel added. He grabbed his jacket collar and fanned himself to get some cold air in there.

The two women looked at each other and shrugged. "Maybe it's just us."

"Yeah, maybe." Normani said. "There are people already wearing shorts." She said as she looked around at the people walking around in the neighborhood.

"Because it's hot mom!" Daniel whines and unzipped his jacket so he could take it off completely. "I don't understand why we came to the park anyways... I'm too big."

"We need to get out of the house and exercise. All you guys do is lay around, eat up everything, and play video games or shoot nerf guns around the house." Normani said to her son and his other mother. "We all need to see some sunlight."

"We could see it from inside though." Dinah bent down and tried to whisper into her son's ear. He laughed at this, which made her smile, but when she looked up-she found a frown from Normani. "No?Not funny?"

"No." The older woman shook her head and continued walking.

"Why couldn't we go to the movies instead?" Daniel asked.

Normani rolled her eyes before responding. "Because that would mean that I'd have to pay for you to sit on your ass again and eat junk in front of a tv screen that's 5 times bigger than our tv at home. Not doing it." She said and shook her head as she disapproved.

They walked until they found an open bench for all of them to sit on. Normani sat down and pulled out her phone to check any new messages she may have from her clients or her boss.

She looked up to see Dinah dribbling her basketball. She watched her for a second before turning her head to see Daniel slouched down on the bench. "Hey! What are you doing ? Go play."

"But I don't wanna play with the little kids. They play boring games like hide and go seek." He said crossing his arms over his chest. "Plus I'm too big."

Normani scoffed and put her phone away after making sure that there were no new messages. She squinted her eyes at him as he just stared back at her.

"I can't believe you kids today. Games like that were fun back in my day and we loved going outside to play with our friends every chance we got. No matter how old we were." Normani said to her son.

Daniel shrugged and watched his mother bounce the ball through her legs.

Dinah laughed as she bounced the basketball. "She's talking like she isn't only 26 years old."

"It doesn't matter. I'm right aren't I?" The darker woman asked. She was hoping that her girlfriend would back her up on this one.

Dinah shrugged, now spinning the ball on her index finger. "I've always enjoyed playing with my younger siblings."

Daniel rolled his eyes and sat up. "Yeah, but I don't have any of those now do I? If I did, maybe my attitude about playing those games would be different."

Dinah's, and Normani's mouth dropped at the boy's words. They were both so shocked.
The two of them watched as he walked away-his arms still folded against his chest as he stomped over to the swings.
