The night of the rumble, Sodapop appeared more nervous than ever. He heard the socs, who were speaking amongst themselves, say that something bad was going to happen.
Obviously, he didn't know what was going on. But whatever it was, it sure did scare him to death.
As the socs and greasers fought, he heard your screams from far away. He stopped whatever he was doing before he ran towards the yelps that belonged to you.
He pried the socs off of you, anger in his eyes and face. Then, he lifted you up and ran to the Curtis house.
You cried and whimpered in his arms as he cleaned up the small amount of blood that the socs had left on your skin.
He sighed when he realized that there were onlydark bruises on your skinand not cuts.
"Sodapop.. thank you." You muttered out, a small crack in your voice.
You reached up to him, wrapping your small arms around his neck. His large hands went down to your waist, pulling you in close for a hug. You let out small whimpers against his covered chest, letting him know that there was sudden pain on your waist.
He loosened the grip, before placing a small kiss on the top of your head.
"I love you, darling. You don't deserve to be beaten around like that."
