Y'all this chapter has been sitting for three days. 😩 Sorry y'all, work be having a bitch TIRED
Damita walked up to her mother's house and rang the doorbell. Angie answered the door and Damita walked straight past her looking for Katherine.
"Where is she?"Damita asked looking forward.
"In the den, with your sisters."Angie closed the door behind her.
Damita walked into the den where Katherine and her sisters were laughing about something. When they noticed Damita the laughter ceased.
Damita went into her purse and grabbed a peice of paper. "Sign this."She sat the paper in front of Katherine.
"You're out soon. Did you escape?"Latoya chuckled.
"I suggest that you stop talking to me."Damita put a hand up at Latoya.
Katherine just sat there looking at her, as if she hadn't said anything to her.
"Sign the goddamn paper, Katherine."Damita hit the table.
"Ooh spicy! I think you need to go back. They didn't help you."Latoya taunted her.
"Latoya. Shut the hell up!"Damita whipped her head around at her. She was becoming agitated.
Katherine signed the papers and gave them back to her. They had to be signed by her
because she was the person who had Damita checked in. They needed her signature to say that Damita was well enough to go back to her regular life and take care of her kids. She had been home almost a month, but she had to adapt to being out on her own again. She had to make sure everything was good for her babies.
"Are you getting mad? What you gonna do, Damita?"Latoya continue to taunt her.
Damita took a deep breath and took off her shoes. She pushed her out of the chair and started to punch her repeatedly.
Rebbie ran over and pulled Damita off her.
"Bitch I been gone for almost three years. I had allot of time to think and whupping your ass has been on mind. I should kick your fucking teeth out your mouth. You wrinkled neck bitch."Damita screamed as Rebbie put her down.
She fixed her dressed and snatched her papers and shoes back from Katherine. "Give me my shit."
Damita put her shoe back on then flipped her over her shoulder and walked out like nothing happened. She was off to her next stop.
She got in her car and drove to the other side of town to Afeni's house. When she pulled up, she could children playing outside.
She stopped the car and rolled her window down to see if any of them were hers. She didn't see them so she pulled into Afeni's driveway and got out of the car.
Danita walked up to her door and knocked with confidence.
Amari pulled the door opened and her eyes got big.
"Hi."Damita smiled at her.
"Granny!"Amari eyes were glued on her mother.
"Amari, what are you screaming f— "
Afeni stopped in her tracks seeing Damita at the door.
"Good evening, I've come for my children."Damita smiled as Amaru walked up to her and hugged her leg.
"Ok. I'll get their stuff."Afeni put Aaliyah down and let her walk around. "Come with me, I want to talk to you."
Damita followed her into the room to her their things.
"Are you sure you're ready to have them back now? I'm just asking for your safety. You've been gone for three —
Damita put her hand up and cut her off. "Before you say something that I might take the wrong way, let me explain. I've been home for a month. I just didn't tell anybody, I had to make sure I was ready and I'm ready now. I'm just as able to take care of them as I was before I was taken against my will. I have my documentation that says that I can have them. If you loved me and them as you say you do, you'd want them to be with me."
Afeni took a deep breath and nodded her head. "You're right. They are your children. You know what's best."
She continued to pack some of their things. "I don't need all of it. I bought them some things, you can leave it for when they spend the night."Damita smiled.
"You're going to let them?"Afeni asked.
"Of course, I'm not going to let my anger with you affect your relationship with them. You're still their grandmother."Damita grabbed the bag and took it outside to her car.
"Why are you angry with me?"Afeni raised an eyebrow as she walked through the door.
"I'd rather not speak about it in order to salvage our relationship while we still have one. I've released all of my anger today, so talking about it will not help me."Damita smiled and picked up both Aaliyah and Amaru. "You can keep the rest of the stuff. If you will, bring Amari's stuff to the car."
"Granny, I don't want to go with her."Amari tried to whisper, but Damita heard anyway.
"Amari. Don't say that."Afeni tried to intervene.
Damita pursed her lips to hide the fact that her feelings were hurt. "It's fine. If she doesn't want to go, I won't force her. Sign this please."
Afeni took the paper and put her signature where it was needed then handed it back.
"Thank you."She chuckled awkwardly and took the twins out of the house. She put them in car seats and waved before driving off.
Hearing her first born saying that she didn't want to go with hurt her deep. She thought she'd be most excited. That was her baby, the one she was closest with and kept home with her everyday.
The whole time she was away her motivation was being able to be with her children again. She told herself "if nobody else loves me, I know my kids do. I know that won't turn their backs on me."
Now she didn't know what to think and how to feel. After all, she had two of her kids. She was happy to have them, but they were still young they couldn't protest.
She kept driving home deep in her thoughts thinking of all the times Afeni came to visit alone. Wondering if the reason she didn't see her was because she didn't want to come.
Ok, I have ideas but what else do you guys wanna see?? Tell me
