Mother and father said I was crazy. They always have ever since I was young. They would hear me talking to myself or staring at nothing. I never understood why they couldn't see them. No one could see them. So why was I so different?***
I barely heard the bell for end of school. I kept on staring at the book. I couldn't really describe my feelings. I'm the Tokubetsu? And a Tsuki is my demon? I stared with disbelief at the page.
Masai turned to face me but I barely noticed him. He peeked over my desk to see the book that was still disguised. "What you reading?" He asked, tilting his head to try and read the page.
I slammed the book shut, shoving it into my bag and jumping up from my seat. "N... nothing," I stuttered surprised.
Masai looked me over. "Ok. So can I walk with you to your house?" He asked, completely changing the subject. I tightened at his words. I must have been pretty obvious because Masai laughed. "Come on. I don't bite." He nudged my arm.
I knew it probably wasn't the best to walk alone with an Akumu, especially when I know a demon will try to kill me this year, but I do get lonely walking home. Might be nice to talk to someone. "Fine. But it's a long walk," I sighed. Masai smiled to show his victory but didn't say anything else. I started to walk away with Masai at my side. We didn't talk much. The awkward silence hanging over us. Though we didn't get far until Aria came up to us cheerfully.
She instantly jumped in front of Masai, ignoring me even being there. I just rolled my eyes. Aria either didn't see me or didn't care. "Hi Masai. You know you should meet me in the library. I always meet there after school to do homework. Maybe you could help me?" She batted her eye lashes like Masai would to annoy me, twirling a strand of red hair in-between her fingers.
Masai looked quickly at me then back to Aria. "I'm busy. Going to miss Murami's house to..."
"To study. We got a huge project we need to do in class and Masai wanted me to catch him up on what's happening since he joined half way through school," I said quickly. Aria whipped her head to glare at me. I gave her one of those flashy smiles she always wore.
Aria looked back at Masai. "That's too bad. I was really looking forward to spending time with you. Maybe tomorrow?" Aria said. She twisted her normally sugar coated voice into a irresistible plead but if you paid enough attention you could here some venom in her words.
Before Masai could respond I set an illusion. Fortunately for me I know that Aria is terrified of snakes.
"Omg! Is that a snake?!" I shrieked. If I tried hard enough I could be a pretty good actor.
Aria's face went pale as she turned to see the illusion I said. She shreiked in terror that was so high pitched you could have thought it was a dog whistle. She started stumbling back, trying to put a false smile that anyone could have seen through. "Umm... So... See you around," she stuttered. I made the snake snap it's jaw at her. Aria shreiked again, turning around running.
As soon as she left I started laughing. Masai looked at me stern but his eyes gave away that he enjoyed my stunt. The illusion that was now completely real slithered up to me, crawling up my leg to wrap around my arm. I stroked it's scales near it's head.
