In The Stars

Chapter 38

     I was back in the shadowy dream place. Dark mists curled around my wrists like bracelets.

     I looked around the Misty place but there was nothing I could see. Only the dark mists that seemed to unfurl to the depths of the earth.

     "Why am I here again? Is this a memory?" I muttered to myself while looking around.

     I heard a whisper from behind me. Though it wasn't the same one as before. It almost seemed... Like I recognized it. I spun around quickly but nothing was there.

     "Where is it? Where is it?! I need to find it. Why isn't it here?!" The whisper muttered frantically.

     The voice sounded similar to the one before. Like two recordings overlapping each other, one young one older. Though this time it was different. It was female.

     The voice kept whispering that over and over. I swear I've heard it somewhere before. But where?

     The ball of light appeared in front of me, this time being a deep scarlet red. I watched it, hoping it would give me some kind of hint or clue.

     It transformed, shifting into a cresant moon. Though it wasn't until a loop appeared attached to it that I actually recognized it. My necklace!

     And everything fit together. My necklace. That's what the female was trying to look for. Though who would of had it...

     Except me. Now I recognized it easily. The voice was my own.

     I was in the courtyard again, sitting down on a bench near the Ketsuryū flowers. They leaned toward me, trying to feast on my magic but I was too far away for any to reach me.

     I didn't remember coming out here again. The last thing I remembered was talking with Masai's guard. And the dream. Or whatever that was.

     My head hurt but I ignored it, trying to figure out what just happened. Why did I have a dream, or whatever else you'd call that, of me loosing my necklace.

     Instinctively I reached out to grab my necklace, only to find it was not there. My eyes widened. Where is it? I always have it on!

     I frantically started looking around for it. I checked under the bench, on the floor, in the flower beds, but it was no use. I couldn't find it anywhere.

     "Looking for something? Like a necklace, by chance?" A familiar voice asked.

     I whipped around quickly, finding Masai holding out his hand. My diamond and ruby studded necklace in his hands.

     My eyes brightened when I saw it. I quickly snatched it away from him, putting it around my neck. I sighed with relief, knowing that the necklace was back with me.

     I looked at Masai. "Thank you so much. You just keep finding everything I loose," I said cheerfully, thinking of my sketchbook I lost oh so long ago.

     Masai smiled. "I saw it in Kari and I recognized seeing you wearing it so I grabbed it. Though I haven't seen you until now since yesterday got too late."

     "In Kari? I must of dropped it when I was training with Koro," I muttered, more to myself then to him.

     "Ya. It's a really nice necklace. It must be very expensive. Rubies are pretty rare. The black diamonds remind me of this castle."
