In middle school a lot of kids would hang out after school. Especially the populars, Aria as there leader with no surprise.

I never really did anything like that. No matter what I never did what everyone else did.

I never fell for boys. I never cared about popularity. I gave up on making friends so I was always alone. Just in general I've always been odd.

And I guess I am odd. I'm a mortal with darn magic and who can somehow see these demons who have always haunted my life!

I mean right now I'm with a smoking hot demon who happens to be the Lord and we're going to lunch like it's a normal Sunday night before school.

Who am I kidding? This is normal for me now.

"Ok. Let's play 20 questions to get to know each other better," I said as we snacked on some onion rings.

"Too long. How about 10?" Masai said after finishing a bite sized ring.

"Deal. You go first. Are we doing only yes or no questions or all?"

"All. That way it's more interesting," Masai said while smirking. Does he think I'll back out? Heck no.

     "Sure. Let's go."

     "How did your parents die?"

"Xamira. It was an unknown diesese that struck. I wasn't affected by it," I replied simply.

So he wants to get personal, now does he? I can play this game.

"How young were you when you started training?" I asked.

Masai hesitated before continuing. "I can't remember a time when I didn't train. You?"

"Magic was five. Grew a master with dark magic weaponry, mainly spears and swords, when I was... 10? Maybe 11. I know it was before 12."

I paused, trying to think of a good question that would make Masai back down. I wanted to win this and I will.

The question probably wouldn't be too bad for him but I was curious about it anyway.

"So if there's only one Akumu at a time how do you guys mate?"

"While we are the head rulers of the Omin there are separate ones for each magic. We marry off to them though the Akumu still tends to me higher ranked than there mate."

"Ok, my turn. How old were you when you started taking medicine?" Masai asked.

"I can't even remember! Though I can tell you that after the passing of my parents I refused to take them," I said.

"What was your worse experience as a child?" I asked. I knew that would dig deep.

Masai thought of it. "Probably the Korosu tournament. You do it when your ten. They gather up unwilling kids and pit them against each other in a brutal tournament. You fight until one forfiets or dies. Many kids didn't forfiet because they would be disgraced. I was the last one standing."
