Devin's P.O.V
"I know I'm not going to, but aren't you supposed to, I don't know, sleep?" I ask Anna who looks wide awake even though it's already 1:47 AM.
"Nah, I usually start feeling sleepy at around 2:30 AM." She answers nonchalantly.
I look at her skeptically, I know that Anna doesn't sleep well, especially not when she's worried. "What's your average number of hours of sleep here?"
"About 5 hours of consistent sleep and a few naps."
"Are you sure you're all right?" I ask her. I'm seriously worried.
"Yeah." She replies with hesitance. It looks like she's holding back from saying something.
I look at her as if I'm telepathically encouraging her to say what she wants to say. I notice a few healing cuts on her cheeks as well as a cut on her collarbone. Those will make some nasty scars.
I internally frown. Doesn't she have enough scars already? I wish I could just take them away, unfortunately it isn't that simple.
I raise my eyebrows after one minute of silence. I sigh when she's still not saying anything. "Just tell me, Chamy."
"I'm sorry." She blurts out.
"What?" I question.
"It was my fault you got shot. That shouldn't have happened-"
"Chamy." I sigh but she doesn't stop.
"I shouldn't have left everyone alone. It was a stupid mistake and it won't happen again, I promise-"
"Chamy." I try to stop her again.
"I should have noticed that the gunmen averted their aim to you, but I was too caught up in defending myself that I failed to notice-
"Anna!"
"I could've easily prevented this, but I didn't and you could've died! You have a permanent scar now and it must sting like a bitch-"
"Anna Jesu-" I try to interfere but she keeps on rambling.
"You've been comatose for 2,5 weeks, it did some serious damage. God Devin I'm so sorry it won't happen again-"
"Anna! I swear to god!"
"I promise I'll look after you better and make sure you won't get involved in my shit anymore-"
"ANNA!" I yell and I finally get her to stop. She looks at me with uncertain eyes, it's something you rarely see on Anna. It almost looks like she's afraid I'm mad at her.
"It's not your fault." I say softly and she visibly calms down,
"It is, Devin." She answers in despair.
"No it's not. You can't blame everything on yourself Chamy, you can't control everything and just because you're involved doesn't mean you're guilty." I assure her.
"Called it." She mutters and I look at her quizzically.
"What?"
"Called it." She speaks louder. "At one night I was saying this to myself and I basically predicted you saying this."
"You know me too well." I mumble. "But, it's still not your fault."
"And I'm still sorry." She states as the stubborn women she is.
"I'd never blame you for something like this." I tell her.
"So you forgive me?" She asks silently. I'm not very used to this side of Anna, but I like it. It's something different than the usual high guarded her.
