"Hey, how is it going so far," Brittany asked while giving Demi a quick hug and following her to the backyard.
"Really good, she is like a minature version of me, I am already feeling like her mother," Demi replied in her bubbly mood, Brittany grinned at her friend's happiness. After a few minutes they sat on the lawn and watched Paige flip around with ease.
"I am going to grab the salad so we can eat," Demi remarked while walking towards the house and calling Paige to come sit at the table. When Demi returned, Paige and Brittany were sitting at the table together waiting for Demi to return with the food.
"Brittan, this is my daughter Paige and Paige this is my friend Brittany," Demi remarked while sitting inbetween the two so that she could be next to both of them. Paige smiled at Brittany and remarked, "nice to meet," and Brittany returned the gesture. As Demi served the three of them, a pang of panic rushed through Paige's core; it was like the feeling you get when you lie in bed almost asleep and then suddenly you feel like you are falling off of a skyscraper and headed straight for death. That's where Paige's demons were taking her; off a skyscraper, execpt this time you don't wake up.
"Make it through this meal, she likes you, don't ruin it, pretend you are perfect and happy," Paige thought to herself as she took the smallest and slowest bite of food known to man. After having eaten a little more than half of her salad she excused herself to the bathroom. Demi let it slide this time thinking that maybe she was still a little uncomfortable with her new life but decided she would investigate later. When Paige came back she went straight to the trampoline and started doing backhand springs. An hour later or so Demi and Brittany ended their conversation and Demi and Paige walked Brittany out.
"Paige do you want to take a shower," Demi asked as she shut the door after Brittany left.
"I-um-don't-uh-have any clean clothes, sorry,"Paige replied in a quiet tone and looked toward her toes.
"Hey, sweetie look at me, that's okay, you can barrow something of mine. You don't need to be sorry though,"Demi remarked as she bent down to Paige's height and forced her eyes to look back at herself. That was the first time Demi could really see the pain behind Paige's eyes and what her smile was hiding.
"Thank you," Paige replied, hoping that Demi knew she wasn't just thanking her for the clothes but for becoming her mom; for accepting her, Demi replied by smiling at Paige. Demi and Paige went upstairs and Demi started Paige's shower and found a large tee-shirt from her tour "Unbroken." Demi went into her room and changed into her own pajamas while thinking how lucky she was to have met Paige and have her in her life. After a few minutes, she heard the shower turn off, and Paige open the door. A few seconds later Paige was at the door frame of Demi's room; not sure if she was aloud to come in or not.
"Come here, sweetie, you can come in here anytime you want," Demi remarked as Paige climbed onto the bed.
"Do you want to watch a movie," Demi asked as her and Paige sat on her bed.
"Sure," Paige replied, excited to get to spend time with her new mom.
"Okay, here are three of my favorites, you pick then I'll pick next time," Demi remarked as Paige analyzed the front and back of the movie cases trying to pick one of the three films; all of which interested her.
"This one please," Paige remarked while holding up 'The Hobbit.'
"Good choice," Demi told her as she put the movie in and jumped back on top of her bed and lied next to Paige. As the movie started Paige kept moving closer and closer to Demi until Demi looked down which caused Paige to tense; afraid she was going to either be yelled at or smacked for an unknown cause.
"Come here, you could have just asked you goof ball," Demi replied as Paige moved toward Demi and was lying in Demi's arms within seconds. As the movie ended Paige and Demi's eyes took turns fluttering open and close.
"Ready to go to bed," Demi asked as Paige got up to hug her and went to her own room for the night.
