Crack! I whimper.
I've been at it for what seemed like days. I felt so tired. If only I could just close my eyes...
"Andrea, you can't fall asleep!" Julius shakes me awake. I hiss in in, my eyes widening slightly.
His figure was blurry. I looked around. Everything was blurry.
"Hold on, please." He takes my hands in his.
Was it just me or was he pleading? That would have almost put a smile on my face if it wasn't so painful.
"U-U'm tured." I couldn't speak properly because of my canines. "Uh dun't thunk uh cun lust much lunger."
Julius lets go of my hand and stands back, away from the bed. Where-where is he going?
Suddenly, I feel a white-hot fire burning through my body. I hear a distant shrill cry.
---
Julius:
"Uh can't last much lunger." Andrea's voice was distorted, but wolves weren't meant to speak human language anyway. By the end of the shift, she wouldn't be able to speak at all.
I let go of her hand and step back.
What if she doesn't make it? I thought to myself.
Then I will make her make it. My wolf snarls.
A surge of anger flows through my body as I imagine her dead in my arms. My mate, dead, after two days of me meeting her. And we spent 1 out of 2 of them with her refusing to speak to me, and I don't know why.
Andrea screams. Her body was now cracking faster than the past hours of bones cracking and shifting here and there. This was going to be the ending of her first shift! At the rate she's going, she's going to be a wolf in less than a minute.
Shit! That amount of pain all at once could kill her!
"Why are you shifting so fast?!" I scrambled up to her side again.
Bones were poking everywhere and hair became fur.
"It's you, Julius." Dr Corden comments. I then notice he had moved quite a distance away from me. He had his head lowered in respect. My eyebrows raised dramatically. "You are eminating power now, and it's causing her to shift faster."
I've never done that before!
"Well, will she make it?" I ran my hand through my hair, stressed beyond belief.
There is no way I can calm myself down enough, knowing my beautiful mate is suffering. And there is no way i'm leaving her.
"Inject her with more adrenaline!" I commanded the doctor.
Just as the doctor was about to inject Andrea, Andrea's paws swipe it away. With a pained howl, she completes the transformation. I couldn't help but answer her call myself.
When I was done howling, I stood in awe of the creature before me. A brown wolf, radiating waves of power and elegance. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.
She tries to scramble onto her paws but they're shaky like a new born doe.
"Easy." I quickly steady it.
It whimpers at my touch, rubbing her face on my hand. My heart skips a beat. Holy shit. I've never seen something so cute in my life before.
I stroke it's soft fur as it slowly tries to stand on its own.
"Want to learn how to walk?" I offer the tired but excited wolf.
She yips.
"Alright then," I proceed to strip down and stretch my muscles. "Let's get to it."
