I stared at him in disgust, "Is that all you care about, that you beat me?" I asked.
He sat next to me. "I just beat Amethyst Cooper...of course that's all i care about right now!" He seemed excited. "I'm the new best swimmer in college!"
I hadn't thought about that, how Liam was now the best after beating me- i'm now the second choice- and he was first in line for a shot at the Olympics.
"Don't get your hopes up. That was a one-time thing." I said.
It's not a one-time thing and i can prove it to you." He answered me.
"How?" I replied.
He smiled like if he was discussing a master evil plan, "I'll beat you again."
"Fine, we will race tomorrow at noon in front of the entire school." I said a bit too confidently.
"Are you sure? I don't want you to be embarrassed." Liam teased.
"I won't be the one embarrassed." I got up and grabbed my duffle bag.
"Don't hit yourself on the way out!" Liam called after me.
I told the media about the race tomorrow and about half an hour later the race was all over California. I had to win.
-11:45 the next day-
I had 15 minutes 'till the race. I could hear people shouting my name and some shouting Liam's and grabbing their seats on the bleachers. I let my worries out on squats and nervousness out on running on place. I had to win.
The buzzer went off, "Welcome to Stanford! Today Amethyst Cooper- our very best university swimmer- will face off Liam Fields- The young man who beat her yesterday- will face off for the title of Stanford's best swimmer!"
We both walked out in our pride, ready to win.

GO!
I swam like my life depended on it. I only lifted my head to get a breath every once in a while. I soon realized that i couldn't see underwater anymore, my goggles were blurry and i couldn't see very well. I keep bumping my head everywhere like a bobblehead but i kept swimming straight until i felt a bump which would be the end of the pool.
BUMP!
I was at the end! I took off my goggles and opened my eyes. I was greeted with people booing me. I was very confused until i looked back and i didn't see anyone in the pool with me. I looked around and found Liam in a towel.
"What?!" I was confused.
Liam walked over too me, "your finally done with the race?" He asked. "You looked hysterical when you kept bumping your head...won't be surprised if you became a world famous meme by tomorrow...but at least you will be famous for something besides losing your rank as the best swimmer in college."
I jumped out of the pool and slapped him, "My goggles were dirty, why do you always have to be so mean to me?" I started crying but the water on my face covered it, "I've done nothing to you!"
Liam grabbed my waist, "I don't know how to show my love properly."
He put his forehead on mine, he was going to kiss me.
He started laughing and let me go. "I'm kidding, i could never love someone like you!"
"Well, i could never love someone like you either, your a disgusting human being!" I shouted back.
"Yeah right, you wanted to kiss me." He said.
"I would never kiss you!" I shouted at the top of my lungs.
He walked away, and i looked to my side.
Everybody was still here and watching.
