''Professor Laufeyson asked you to be his assistant...'' Jane repeated incredulously, turning the paper, ''He even left his phone number here.'' She pointed at scribbled writings on the back of the form. ''Wow, girl, you're in deep shit.''

Fortunately, Jane didn't know the whole story... Just enough to realize it wasn't good news.

Alice still felt her heart pounding in her chest from her previous meeting with her professor. She sprawled on Jane's bed, letting out a deep, long sigh.

No, really, how could he even think she would accept his outrageous proposition ? She felt offended, as if he wanted to use her. Thinking about it was only making her more resentful than she already was. All she'd seen in him at her sister's wedding, the way they'd been joking about everything, all this to be fucked once and asked for another round on his desk. Great.

Chasing her rumbling thoughts away, Alice turned to her friend,

''Jane, I need to get drunk. I want to forget what happened today.''

Her friend remained silent until she noticed Alice's trembling hands. Then, she cleared her throat,

''Well ... I think Leo is throwing a party tonight, we could just sneak there. He'd be happy to see you.'' she shrugged.

Leo, hm ? Alice's eyes lit up,

''Yes. A thousand times, yes !''

Bless her. Jane had no idea how Alice needed it. She found her exacerbation thoroughly amusing and merely smiled,

''That Laufeyson must really be an ass ...''

. . .

Dancing to the rhythm of the music, Alice had closed her eyes. Everything felt so distant now. Her professor, her own feelings and thoughts. They'd disappeared, all at once.

She made her way to the bar and drank as much more than she could handle.

After a moment, Leo came closer and she smiled at him. He wasn't that bad. He was her age, a student, rather kind.

He stepped towards her and before she could realize what was happening, Leo had his arms around her. Throwing her head back and laughing, Alice kept dancing, a sense of freedom written on her face.

Torn between pushing him away and pulling him against her, she ended up unintentionally wriggling against him. As soon as she understood her the effect she had on him, Alice stepped away. Oh hell...

And it all came back to her. Loki.

The more she tried to push him out of her head, the less it worked. His face was burnt into her mind.

Alice wiped the sweat from her forehead and slipped on the sticky floor.

''Oh ...'' she grumbled while Jane scolded her, "Let's go home, Alice please !" she begged, holding up her completely drunk friend.

"But I want to sta-y." Alice strung out the 'y', giggling and stumbling.

Contemplating the duo, Leo burst out laughing, ''Let her be, Jane...''

The young girl was at a level of intoxication Jane had never seen before and this Leo wasn't reassuring at all. "Alice, you've drank too much. We're going home." she dragged her out, but Alice overbalanced and Jane had to jump ahead to catch her. ''Oh, damn you !'' She swore, ''I'm calling your parents.''

Jane reached into Alice's pocket and grabbed her phone. She quickly scrolled down her contacts but the device ran out of battery. ''Fuck it.'' She grumbled. Taking a quick glance at her friend, she wasn't sure if Alice's state could get worse.
